Caneel Bay at St. John

I just returned from photographing a wedding on St. John. It was so much fun. The wedding was at Caneel Bay. The resort is all about understated elegance. Lots of celebrities go there. In fact - we had only been on the grounds about five mintues when we ran into Rev. Run and Justine. (from Run DMC and "Run's House" on MTV in case you don't know who they are.)

The wedding was held at Turtle Point (which is a point overlooking the water on the grounds of the resort) and the reception was at the Equator.

Some of the guests stayed at Caneel Bay and some rented villas and split the cost among them.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I will be happy to help.

i am going to go look at the pics right now! i also have to say as a word of warning to future brides. Caneel Bay was our first choice location, it is expensive but from everything i've seen it looks like it is worth it but the wedding coordinator and sales department are the most unprofessional people i have ever dealt with. it was horrible, so horrible that FI and I scratched our plans and started over!

Thanks Christine. Yes - my husband is back and we moved to south Georgia at the end of the summer. I have been so busy traveling all over for weddings and getting settled here that I didn't have much time to come around the message boards. But it's slow season for a month or two. :)

Mrs. B. - that is terrible to hear! I can't believe they were rude to you. I didn't talk to any of the coordinators before going, but they were all super friendly while I was there.

yeah jill it was a nightmare - i even talked to a couple other brides who had recently been married there (one in the same city as me) and all 3 of them said the same thing - that dealing with them was hell until the second they got there - FI and I just didn't want that kind of stress for planning a DW sad.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
