Cancun weather: October and November

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am sure there are threads directly addressing this put the search feature is not working for me and I haven't come across one. I have seen a lot of girls getting married in Cancun in October and haven't seen a single complaint about rainy weather but all of the info on the web says October and November are rainy. We are planning to have our wedding in November but package prices are significantly cheaper in October and we don't have our heart set on any specific month or date.

Has anyone had a bad experience in October (or Nov for that matter)? It would save our guests about $200 per person to switch to some time in October.

Thanks for the help!

Search isn't working, but if you click advanced search it still works.

October is peak hurricane season. That is why it's cheaper. But, november is also in season. If you do pick a date during hurricane season, look into getting insurance. There is a lot of info on the forum about insurance. I decided to avoid peak hurricane season & go with June. Prices are lower than jan-april and the chances of a hurricane are low in June.

We did plenty of hurricane research and there's very few hurricanes that have hit that area as late as November.

We chose our late November date, and were thrilled withthe weather.

Mid to high 80s every day. One night, there was a 15-20 minute downpour. Another early morning, about 10 huge rain drops while we walked on the beach. otherwise, gorgeous!!!

we got married in October in cancun and the weather was fantastic!!

I was following the weather about a month before we left and I was so scared because the forecast was rain everyday!! And that was everyday for a month, I'm like how is that possible!!

but I knew two girls that got married there within two weeks of me and they had beautiful weather and so did I!

When it rains, it rains for about 10 minutes a quick shower and thats it, then its beautiful.

We did buy trip insurance because of the amount of money we were spending. We didn't want to take any chances. The scariest part for me was the hurricane that was coming in August, I think? It was supposed to nail cancun and ended up going further south.

So, you're not only worrying about it happening while you're there, but there's the possibility that even a month or two after a hurricane hits, everything may not be back in tip top shape by the time you take your trip.

I don't want to scare you, but I do want to give you both sides of this. For us, October was really the only time we could make work unless we wanted to wait until this year, and we didn't.

just keep in mind the risk of picking the end of hurricane season. If the hotel gets hit in october, they may not be ready to reopen by november.

Also keep in mind how dark it will be by 6 pm in November. I brought my children to Cancun in late November and our days were really short, we had to make sure we woke up realllly early to make the most of our days. Other then that it was perfect weather, we needed light shawls or sweaters in the evenings, however.

This is all very helpful, thank you all so much! I guess we'll be 'rolling the dice' whether it is in October or November but we will definitely be getting the trip insurance (and having a mid-day wedding!). I'm in the same boat that Jilly was in, in that we would have to wait at least another six months to get married and we're ready to get married way before then. Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
