For those of you who did/or plan to do the free dinner, did you do place cards? What sort of set up did they do for you?

Also, is there something wrong with the search feature? I just get a blank screen everytime I try to search?

Good question! I'm interesting in the feedback....

As for the search feature, I get the blank screen when I do the basic search. Try the advanced search and just put your search terms in the window on the advanced screen - your search should then work.

We did El Cocotal. Had about 34 guests there for that dinner...

We didn't do place cards, but sort of wish we had.

They had three "tables" towards the back wall of the restaurant for us. One big rectangle with about 16 seats, a round table for 8, and another longer rectangle for 12.

Since we were out taking pics while our guests were showing up, it was sort of a free for all, with our parents somewhat overseeing. It all really worked out fine, but place cards would have probably been a good idea.

It would have bene very easy, once set up, for one of us or someone helping us to put them out...

We went up to the martini bar afterwards and had a blast. Met the rest of our wedding guests there and watched the Eagles almost beat the Patriots!!!

Let me know if you have any other questions!!!

We are also doing our reception dinner at El Cocotal's. So all worked out good just going to the martini bar afterwards. I was hoping that would be okay to do also & not have a private reception. Sounds like it worked out for your wedding. I was thinking of doing the mexican party the night before though. I am looking for feedback on photographer. Did anyone have the one on site or can you recommend anyone off site? That is my main dilemma at this time. Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using Claudia Rodriguez - so far, so good - I liked her work and she fit into my budget. She's also very friendly and pretty responsive.

We are having placecards for the wedding reception but I am so glad that you brought up that place cards would be good for El Cocotal. We are having our rehearsal dinner there and with 40 people would probably save same unwanted worrying.

Do you know if the resort will put the placecards where they belong for the dinner or do we need to be in charge of this before everyone gets there?

Thanks, I did just email them. Do you know the stipulations for the resort, bringing in an outside photographer? I hear you got to get a day pass or a one night stay. What did you do? Also could you give me an idea on the price range for them & how long? I do have a few others that were recommended also that I need to check into. Are you also doing a video? When is your wedding?

Good Luck to you & all on your planning

Thanks Jennifer. I did email them to get some info. Do you know the stipulations bringing in an outside photographer? I hear a day pass or 1 night stay. Did you also get a video with your package?

Thanks for the info

Well, we're just going to suck it up and pay the $500 outside photographer fee. I believe that we're getting package 3 for $2200 or something around that range. We're also getting the special highlights video ($250) and the videographer services (for $600 or so). Let me know if you have any more questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
