iPod information needed

Recommended Posts

So I am some what advanced but I don't have an iPod, I have a plain old MP3 player. The thing that sucks about it is that it only play by album and not by playlist so I can't set up different playlist, even if I do it just pulls them all into album name once I get them on there.

I have never used an iPod and I am thinking about borrowing/buying one. If I get an iPod will it let me set up playlists?

I see that a few girls recommend this over using CD's so I thought I would ask. We are renting DJ equipment and having my brother-in-law help us out.

we used our IPOD, we didn't have one so we figured we'd rather invest in an IPOD and a docking station, something we'd have forever, then pay a DJ.

Yes, you can set up playlists with the IPOD, the only thing I'm not sure about is the borrowing part. When we plug our IPOD into our computer it recognizes it as our IPOD, I'm not sure how it would work if you plugged someone else's IPOD into your computer, I think I tried that once to download some songs for someone and couldn't get it to work, but that was also before I had an IPOD so I could have been doing something wrong.

We did really like having the IPOD and all of our friends participated in changing the songs if they didn't like one or requesting songs, etc....

I have an ipod, and there is a way to set your ipod to a manual setting so it can be used as an external hard drive. However, I think you can only have your ipod set to one itunes account. If you set up a new one it may erase the songs already on the ipod. If you are going to borrow someone's ipod I would recommend giving them the songs you want in the playlist, and if they don't have them give them the cds to add the songs onto the ipod or buy them an itunes card to download them. I have a green ipod mini that I no longer use since I upgraded to the nano. If you want to buy it PM me.

Our resort is charging us $250 to set up speakers/amplifiers for our iPOD-- for each location we want music! (ie cocktail hour on the beach, then where our actual reception is taking place)

What kind of "docking station" or speakers would be good to use for an iPOD- I think I'd rather buy one of those instead of paying resort.... Could I buy something that would be loud enough/clear enough to be heard at a reception?

Thanks for any help!!

We're using an IPod, too. Our hotel is little and I don't think they have a system to rent ... so I've been looking around. I didn't want to spend the $300 for the Bose system since I figure there is always a possibility it will get damaged, lost, stolen, etc. I just read a review of these speakers -

Logitech Pure-Fi Speakers - they are $149.99 on the apple website. The system got really good reviews and they are pretty small, so easy to transport. We haven't bought them yet ... still waiting on FI to decide ... but I'll let you know if we do.

When I get to my laptop, I'll try to upload a pic, in the meantime, here's the link:

That's right, once you plug the iPod into another computer, it'll synchronize with YOUR computer, it won't merge playlists. So, what I'd suggest is downloading iTunes (it's free), and adding all your music to your desired playlists and synchronizing it to your computer. It'll delete all the old files from your friends iTunes/computer, but just make sure your friend is ok with it if they're deleted. iPod and iTunes are SO easy to use, you'll have no problems with it.

Your iTunes will recognize the iPod. Aaron's named ours "The Little Black Box of Death" (I know, I know..), no matter what computer I plug it into, the "Little Black Box of Death" will be recognized, it just won't merge playlists from two computers.

For speaker options, I received the iHome alarm clock for Christmas - I not sure the speakers have the capacity for a reception area, but the sound quality is fantastic. And for $100 you might consider purchasing it, and seeing how well the speakers work in an open space (and just return it if it wont' work).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
