Placecard question???

Recommended Posts

Okay so I have seen some of the tables with the name placecard at each individual seat and I have seen some where they are all lined up in one spot (not sure where to put them) and then I guess the guests just look for their name and then go to their table? What is the advantage/disadvantage to each way??

In my opinion:

Advantages to having placecards on the tables:

Everything is done exactly how you want it.

No confusion for guests on where to sit

Disadvantages for cards on tables:

Extra work for you

People wondering around trying to find their names

Advantages to placecards on a table near the dinner area (you could probably put it on the same table as your guestbook if you are doing one):

Guests have a choice where at the table they want to sit

Less work for you

More guests will sign your guestbook if it's sitting by the placecards.

Disadvantages:

People might miss them an sit wherever

I guess it all depends on how many guests you have and how much work you want to put into it.

I think that you would have all of the nametags in one place on a table also if you decide to have table assignments. You would have the person's name and the table number listed on the card so they know which table to go to.

Either way you decide to do it will be nice, but if you don't want people to wander around looking for their names, create table numbers and assign people to tables. The possible drawback would be you'd have to decide where you want people to sit (who sits at the table with whom...)

That seems like more work to me unless you wanted something formal. I find that most people just use the escort cards and let their guests sit at any seat at that particular table.
This is what is done at every wedding I've been to. Usually near the guest book, there are cards with the guests names and table numbers. When we go to our tables, we just pick a seat! This is what I'm planning to do.

I guess my thing was that I wanted to do the starfish with the name tag on them and I just assumed that I would place one at each seat. But then I saw them in a picture all lined up on a table and I just wasn't sure which would be better.

I feel like if I'm going to have a list at the guestbook table or whatever then why even have individual placecards it seems like a waste. they can just go to the list, find their name and then find their table?

but if I really want my starfish then they will have to wander around and fine their name...

I don't know...I am the worst at making decisions. Thank you girls so much for all your input!!! I don't know what I would do without this site!!! wink.gif

Not necessarily! If you put number cards on the tables, and have the name and table number (along with your starfish), there should be no need to have a list. They can just go to the specific table.

You can even make it fun by using different pics of starfish on the name cards and have the people match the starfish pic on their name card to the starfish pic on the table...just an idea... (Hope this makes sense!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
