Mmmmmm! That roast sounds good!

I have some favorites but I'm bad at actual recipes. We like to make a big pot of chilli. I make mine in the crockpot and it has beans, meat, spices, rotel, garlic and stuff in it. David makes his on the stove-top and doesn't put any beans at all! he's crazy. ;-)

Also, I LOVE sweet potatoes!!!! I cook them, peel them and then mash them (or puree in food processor) with a little butter, cinnamon, like 1 Tbs of maple syrup and some nutmeg I think....then put it in a dish and warm it in the oven. I make this for Thanksgiving every year...and when I'm craving it!

AND...butternut squash! Yum! Just cut it in half, throw a little butter and cinnamon on it and then bake it in the oven. SO good...David was skeptical at first but loves it now. :-)

Fleishbrok and Greble

(my grandmother was German and passed the recipe down to my mom who passed it on to me) It's tedious and when you make it you make a big batch and freeze some but it goes fast!

Fleishbrok:

You take 3-4 store bought bread dough loaves(in the freezer section), let it rise according to the instructions.

Meanwhile cook up a couple lbs of hamburger meat and add a bag of frozen chopped onions (this will give the meat moisture). Salt and pepper the meat mixture. The more salty the better.

Once the bread dough is thawed and risen. Kneed and roll out the dough until it's about a 1/8 inch thick on a well floured surface. Using a knife cut the dough into approx 4in x 4in squares. Spoon some of the meat mixture in the center of the squares and pull up all corners of the dough to the center. Seal all seams well until they form little square pillow type shapes.

Once they are all made place them seam down on an oiled cookie sheet. Brush oil over the top and bake until golden brown.

(note, most fleishbrok is made with cabbage in it but my family omits it)

Greble:

Take the remaining dough and again cut into squares. Cut two slits down the center and fry in hot oil. Drain on paper towels and then coat with sugar.

Serve a piece of the fleishbrok with a of piece greble. The salty and sweet combination is awesome together. The ingredients are so simple and it's SO GOOD!

Ok, now I want to go and make some.

NOTE: This is not the most healthy recipe wink.gif

Potato Cheese Soup - ok not the healthiest recipe so dieters beware.

But it is sooo goood!

3-4 large baking potatoes peeled and cut into cubes boil them with 1/2 small

chopped onion until fork tender, drain water and return to pot. Add 1 cup half

and half then add enough whole milk to cover the potatoes. Add 1/2 stick of

butter. Add one half velveeta cheese loaf cut into cubes. Salt and pepper to

taste. Let simmer on low until cheese melts. I usually mash up a couple of

the potatoes cubes in the pot to make it thicker. Enjoy!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
