We're so excited! I can't even sleep in because I wake up thinking: ONE DAY CLOSER TO MEXICO!

We are going with the Ultimate package. I really wanted mariachis and other places charged too much. Plus, since a lot of our family is unable to come we like the fact that we get a videographer.

I emailed her because I was tired of waiting and I figured that by the time I got a reply from her it would be closer to the wedding when I'd be more stressed out so I was really surprised she got back to me so quickly. But this time I figured that she is super busy to reply promptly because she's busy with the weddings of that week. Well... I'M THIS WEEK! lol, just keep emailing her.

I have CONFIRMED with Ivan (from Doremixx) the pricing for the setup for a slideshow. However, I should clarify - we have a large group coming and we wanted to have something organized the night before the wedding. So we are going to do Karaoke for a few hours (which we'll be using Doremixx for) and he'll also bring stuff to set up a slideshow (for the extra fee I quoted earlier). If you wanted to do the slideshow during your reception or something, I'm sure he could work that out and I would imagine at the same price he quoted for us.
Two days is what I thought too. Our thing is that we have part of the money in our account and the rest is my parents' so we didn't know if we need to bring cash, a check, or just our cards. Our meeting with her is 2 days before the wedding and that's when we finalize our flowers, food, and cake.

Laura mentioned that she left her chair sashes, I'm hoping to use those. And then I'll go with the white fabric on the chuppah.

Hello everyone!

I just switched resorts from Secrets Maroma to Dreams Riviera Cancun. I'll be getting married there on April 1, 2011. We had many complaints from family and guests about the price of Secrets and it not being family-friendly so my FI and I decided it would be in our best interest to switch.

Love the resort but am concerned about the lack of a response from Ana. It appears to be a common problem based on past posts. I just want her to acknowledge my existence--everything else is already planned because my contract and deposit transferred directly from Secrets since the two are related resorts. Has anyone found an effective way to get her to respond? I've written emails to her in both English and Spanish at multiple email addresses but she only appears to respond through my destinationwedding agent...

Also, does anyone know how you pay Ana for the wedding??

p.s.
Some friends of ours got to DRC today and sent us a text. It said word for word: DUDE! THIS PLACE ROCKS! IT'S THE BEST PLACE WE'VE EVER BEEN TO!!

I started jumping up and down in the kitchen and got all misty eyed.

I'm so glad to hear about all the positive responses to the resort. I'm so excited!

(crazy, as I have a previous email from her saying 10 pm, I wonder why this thing is stressful, freak)

Bad news: Those cute stars that had used to light the buffet set up were left out and got ruined by rain, so they got new colourful bulbs, I asked her to email me a picture and will post if/when I get that from Ana.

Ok, so we got DJ Doremixx, already confirmed for 4 hours, our reception was to start at 6 pm, so should I get him to start at 7-11 pm and not pay extra? or how does that work, no music at 6-7 pm? and he just sets up? Really appreciate everyone's thoughts!
That's good news Boo! My ceremony is at 6. Cocktail hour is at 7 and ceremony is at 8. I guess the DJ will be from 8-11. I would really like to keep the party going. I know we can't have the DJ, so how would that work? And...leaving in 9 days and still no word from Ana.

We are planning on having the white satin chairs on the beach, with alternating orange and pink sashes. I am going to put orchids on the back of the chairs (kinda where the bows tie). I sent Ana a picture of the exact setup I wanted and she said she could do it. I also wanted flowers in the sand on the beach and then a pink and orange decor for the four post thingy they put in on the beach. We are having 39 people coming with us so it isn't too huge but not tiny either. I haven't decided anything for the tables for dinner yet though. I am still thinking of what to do for that. I want something really elegant. I think I will do hurricane vases with flowers and candles in them. Something simple but pretty. The price of our wedding just keeps going up... We are not doing anything once we get home so this will be it for us. What are you doing??
We're having around 40 people too! We're using whichever restaurant is closed for the night for dinner/reception. I really wasn't going to bring anything to decorate the restaurant. I know it sounds bad but we just keep spending more and more and the restaurants will be pretty with the decor they already have. I think I'm going to spend the money we would of used on extra time for the reception/extra guests.

I'm so glad we can add an extra hour. The dinner will probably be and hour so that would only be 2 hours of dancing and our crowd will def want to dance. Does anyone know the cost for an extra hour at the reception or maybe we could trade the cocktail hour for an extra reception hour.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
