Our food was fabulous! We weren't expecting it to be so good since it was an AI. We ate the buffet 3 nights, once even an hour before our scheduled dinner at Krystal b/c it was so good. At Krystal we had the salmon and steak which were both great. I loved the breakfast buffet too. It had a smoothie bar (my favorite), a Bloody Mary station, Mimosa station, and any breakfast food you'd want. At night, there was an amazing dessert bar with a chocolate fountain. Needless to say, I came home with 4 extra pounds.

The mixed drinks were strong!! They have a great martini list that is fun. The only beer they serve is Dos Equis, which was tasty. They do have some upper shelf liquors, which also surprised me. The frozen drinks were good, but premixed, so not very strong. The bartenders gladly added more liquor if you requested. I will say that the cups they provide are tiny (like a juice cup), so we definitely plan to give our guests cups in the OOT bags.

Our service was fantastic here. We did tip a lot, just because it felt like the right thing to do, although we never felt obligated. The front desk was awesome with straightening out our transfer back to the airport mess. We had arranged for a private transfer with American Express, but our driver never met us to tell us when he'd come get us for our return flight. The woman who helped us at the front desk made the call for me, and even left us a cute note in our door about our pick-up time.

All in all, it was a great site visit and we're super excited to share our wedding with our friends and family at the Riu RM:)

It's so great to have this site to get information and ideas from! Thanks ladies!

Question for you all based on Greysgirl's comment on bringing cups in the OOT bags. I've been planning to do the same thing, but want an opinion...should I order simple pastic cups with our wedding logo on them or would it be better to spend a little more for insulated cups with covers and straws? The insulted cups would be between $400-500 where the plastic cups would be way less...thoughts?

Insulated cup example: Double Wall Acrylic Tumblers, Acrylic, 16 oz. - Promotional Products - Drinkware - Tumblers - Plastic & Acrylic Tumblers

Plastic cups will be just that...

Vlvetter-It's funny you mentioned that because my FI and were just talking about it last night. He is against getting cups at all because he says that it is a waste of money and people will just throw them away when they are done. So this a man talking, but he is the avg man so he is probably right. I don't know if it's worth spending that much money on them.

If anything I'd just use cups. I found these insulated mugs on ebay for about 34 cents a piece, but you have to buy stick logos or see if someone could add images onto them. Unfortunately, work has ebay blocked but if you interested I could send you the link.

I just wanted to say that the mugs we got were a huge hit! Yes, a few people did forget theirs by the pool and on the beach but I had brought extra's because I knew this would happen. Most people I know still use the mug daily for their morning coffee.

greysgirl - Thanks so much for the review/pics, I miss it so much and I want to go back sooo bad!!!

Vlvetter-I really liked those first cups that you showed us but they were expensive so I went and started goggling. Discount mugs has them for about $2 cheaper.

My sister did mugs and they were a HUGE hit!! I definitely felt they were worth the money, so I am giving mugs and just a couple small other things for our OOT bags. And I agree with Lisa, I know a lot of people kept their mugs for coffee/tea at home after the wedding!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
