Does anyone have picture of El Patio and or Portofino?
I'm actually hoping to get El patio or the Seaside Grill for my reception location! This bride had her reception at El Patio and it looks beautiful!

Ok- I need to vent. This whole communication business with Ana is NOT going well and im very frustrated. I have a small group of around 12 and i was told we could have our dinner in the wine room after our ceremony if we spent 60$ minumum in upgraded wine. I thought, sure! its beautfiul and were only out 60 bucks on good wine to have a nice reception without paying extra per person. This is exactly what her email said. Today i get an e-mail stating "oh beth anne, just want to make sure you understand that its 60$ minimun per couple, and it goes according to how many guests you have- example if you have 10 guests.. you would have to spend at least 300$ minimum on upgraded wine to use the room" This is BOGUS!! I'm so mad. I just feel like something is doomed to fail in the end because the communication is so crappy. Of course because of small group we can have it in one of the restaraunts (semi-private) for no extra charge, but its not a guarantee, and we wont know this info till the day we arrive in cancun. talk about stressing for the next 6 months?? geez. =(

She finally sent me the charge authorization document in an e-mail for the deposit- i filled it all out and sent it back- online as attatchment and faxed it 3 times. I got no response for about a week. Then she said "ok all is good, will process your deposit on your charge card today!" well that was a week ago and it still isnt showing up on my card statement =(
I just hope this all works out for us in the end ladies!! I'm kind of stressing =(
I've been having the same problem BethAnne! I ended up paying $40 to UPS the charge authorization and copies of the credit card and ID because their fax maching was offline for over a week. The package was recieved there, now I keep checking my cc to see if there is a charge from them and nothing yet!

As easy as a destination wedding is supposed to be....this has been an extremely frustrating process. I started trying to lock in my date and get my deposit in the first week of April. It's now over 3 months later. I hope it will get be smooth sailing after this deposit gets taken care of. Good Luck BethAnne...I'm right there with you!fryingpan.gif

I had my welcome dinner at El Patio. It is really pretty in there and I think that it would be a GREAT place for a reception! I don't have any pictures of Portofino (if I remember correctly, it was modern decor in there) but I have pictures from my welcome dinner...

I had the same kind of issues while planning my wedding. I know it's hard to imagine now, but everything will work out in the end!! The resort is so beautiful and everyone there is so nice!! For example, while communicating with Ana prior to arriving in Mexico, I had asked her if it would be possible to have a welcome dinner (not private) in one of the restaurants. She told me that it could not be done and that we would have to just "show up" at one of the restaurants when it opened and maybe we could be seated together. I freaked about that for at least a month before I left for my wedding. Once we got there, we spoke with the restaurant manager at El Patio and it was no problem. We made a set menu with them and they even brought out some stuff like appetizers, frozen margaritas and these great desserts that I wasn't expecting. Everyone had a blast. Our group was 28 people and the resort was at full capacity. So, I would think with 12 people, that you would be able to work something out!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
