But by the time the 3 weeks went by for a refill, they grew to a nice length and that's when I got the first french manicure. The white tips are not nail polish-- it is a white gel that they put on, and then a clear gel, and then they set both with the UV light. The gel makes your nails stronger so that they don't break (I could never grow my nails either). I posted a picture on page 3 of this thread when I went for my first refill and french manicure: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...16/index3.html

Good luck!
They turned out great! I can't wait to try it soon! There's a few places around here that do it!

I tried the OPI gel nail manicure and I love it!! Mine lasted for three weeks. I did the french manicure because I love it sooo much. A regular french does not last more than 3 days, if you're lucky!! I highly recommend it and will definitely do it again. I paid $41 for a pedi and UV gel nail manicure. My cousin normally pays $22 for a UV gel Manicure. It varies where you go. Either way, It's so worth it. If you're like me, who gets a manicure every week, you get your monies worth. Try it..... You won't be disappointed!!

Unfortunately I had a different experience with the OPI Axxium. I paid $25 and had mine done at a school because they were the only place in town that had I could find that had this type of polish. The girl did a really bad job painting the gel on and it started to peel and chip in 3 days. By day 5 I had peeled all the polish off because it was lifting and driving me crazy. I loved that they were dry immediately and didn't smudge but make sure you find someone who knows what they are doing and can give a nice polish job. I have been reading up on this and if they leave the gel on your cuticles and don't clean it up really well the gel will catch on things and lift. Turns out they should be using a special base coat also that this girl didn't use which is supposed to help the gel adhere to your nails.

Basically just make sure the person you go to knows what they are doing and defiantly give it a trial run before the wedding.

i found out that they do The Axxium at Pinky Nails in manhattan and also at Serenity spa where I get my Minx nails done. The axxium is about $40 hands/$50 feet. I havent tried yet but I plan on getting in the next few weeks just to try out.

I also had this done recently and LOVED it!

Was in Cancun for 10 days and it lasted about 2.5 weeks (only reason I had to get it off was I had a bright color and it was growing out)

The best thing is they don't file or grind your nails before applying (like solar nails) so there is no damage.

I HIGHLY recommend and will do them again for my wedding!

I wish I had good experiences with this like the rest of you. I have gotten this 3 times already and none of them came out well. The first time the color was suppose to be red and it came out little-girl-bubble-gum-pink and the nails were actually sticky and not hard and smooth. The second two times the nails chipped and ripped off with a few days and it torn up my nail when they came off. I just got it done again on Friday hoping for a better experience and a nail already came off today.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
