DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies~

I am planning on getting married at Dreams PV around May 2011. I wanted to reach and say hello to some of the other brides booking around the same time.

To the past Dreams brides… did anyone use the photographer provided by the hotel? I am thinking of upgrading my wedding package and it is included; but I know must people hire their own. If so, can you please post a pic? Also, I am trying to decide the best location for the ceremony and reception. But since I have never been there it is hard to do!! Thank you to those that posted pics of the gazebo and beach set up. Does anyone have pics of the beach set up with decorations? Any suggestions for reception area?

Thanks!

This might help (hope the link works)

Welcome to Facebook

I am using Mishka as our planner and she took a great video of where we're having our ceremony and reception .....on the beach and Oceana restaurant.

If the link doesn't work you can look her up on facebook...under "Mishka Designs" to view the video.

Also I know past brides have posted reviews with great pictures of their weddings. Ck out Lauren's, Jess, and Autumn's Review....(just to name a few) they are so helpful!!!!

Hi guys,

I have searched this thread already regarding deposits but for all the girls who have confirmed their wedding dates with Dreams PV, did they already charge you the $500 deposit to secure the date? I'm dealing with Samantha, whose name I have not seen at all in this forum and she said that my date was booked but that she won't charge the deposit until we arrive...

That makes no sense to me.... I forwarded her my credit card info and we filled out the initial paperwork (expected number of guests, when, where etc,) but she hasn't charged the deposit to us.

I know others have mentioned something about not charging it until the next year's rates come out (my date is supposed to be May 24, 2011) but is this right? I'm about to get invites printed out but all of a sudden, I'm not 100% sure that our date has been officially confirmed...

Can anyone that has booked shed some light? I think I'm just going to ask Rebecca to take over.. because I feel like Samantha is giving me false information...

1984 ~ I had to send a check to Dreams that they deposited right away in order to reserve my date. But.... when we were checking out and trying to reconcile all of the wedding charges it was a complete nightmare. They claimed that I had not paid the deposit because they do not run it until after the wedding. This makes me think that their deposit policy has changed. I had also paid for the wedding package through my TA and they claimed that they didn't know that either. The proof was in the same stupid book of vouchers that we used for the room and transportation, but they acted like they had never seen a voucher before, even though all 50 people in our group used them for the rooms. Blah.

Some advice to all B2Bs: Save AND Print AAAAAAALLLLLLLLLllllllllll money and set up conversations that you have with your WC. And reconcile your bill the day BEFORE you check out. It sucks having to be over organized, but this will save you a headache in the end!

OK. Rant over.

Jen ~ The Las Palmas Terrace was absolutely perfect for a 50 person reception. It is tucked away even though it is in the middle of the resort and large enough for a full bar, dance floor and seating. There are bathrooms right down the stairs from it and almost no one uses them at night so I put some deco in there too. I believe there are a couple of pics in my review, but feel free to let me know if you have specific questions.

The way I understand it is they will only charge the $500 once you are a "confirmed guest" at the resort. So once you send the WC your reservation number/confirmation number they can charge your credit card and lock in the date. (They were pretty strict about not booking the wedding until we were confirmed as a guest)

my suggestion - as it always is - is to read this whole thread. click on the links in dreams pv brides' links to slideshows and pictures. do a google image search for dreams puerto vallarta wedding. there were a few pics floating around when i got married 2+ years ago - there are definitely TONS now.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
