Hi Jessica, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding...I am getting married June 2nd at Tulum......I think with the cakes you can ask for what you want but I think they are typically a round base with a choice of flavour: 3 milk, chocolate & vanilla. I have 40 guest so am going to forfeit desert at my wedding dinner but have a cake that is big enough for all of us!! 3 tier chocolate. On the decoration front, my understanding is that included in my package there is a flower table arrangement for the 'top' table & anything else you can bring wth you. I am going to take name placecards with me so everyone knows where to sit & i will put my favors at their seats too!! This forum is amazing though I don't know what I would do without it!!

Your photos are so lovely, I wish we were still allowed to bring in an outside photographer. Do you think they would know if I brought in my own one & just said they were my wedding guest? Like just brought them a day pass & said that they were staying at another hotel?

Hi Jessica, I hope this helps you out! Here's some pics from my wedding that was 3 weeks ago (gasp! 3 weeks already!). We got married at Coba but I imagine the table set ups would be similar.

Head table:

The head table had the flower arrangement from the ceremony. The rest had small vases with a single flower and little candle lanterns. When we arrived, they had large silver platters with a customized menu at each place setting. I brought down the table cards with my guests names, that was it!

This was the cake we had:

We had 40 people attend but we didn't bother to upgrade the cake since we were serving dessert with dinner. We chose the chocolate cake and it was delicious! I think this is the standard size/shape/look of the cake that's included in the package so if you want something different I suggest emailing your WC with pics and get her to provide you with the cost.

Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, ask away!

Oh and I promise to get to that review this weekend!!

Rectangular table for the wedding party for sure and I'm fairly certain she has told me round for the guests that you can "mix" the amount of people you have at each table. You can have 7 at one, 8 at another and 10 at another if you need to. They all don't have to have the same number of guests at each. Does that help you at all? I can check for you tomorrow to be sure...my emails from her are on my work account.
YES! Getting more excited by the minute!!

Thanks, I'm glad to know they can fit 10 around a table.. it works out for us to have either 4/5 at 4 tables or 6/7 at 3 tables. I'm going to bring seating arrangements for both just in case. I thought SusieQ had her dinner at Gran Tortuga and her pics showed 6 chairs around a table so I got confused.. I'm sure all will work out one way or another!

You're wedding is 4 months away but trust me this time is going to fly by for you!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
