Great, affordable ideas for wedding gifts

Recommended Posts

Another idea in that article I posted is to go to a good wine store. You know the kind where the emplyoees know about wine. Buy a bottle of wine or champagne that would be at its best age in 5 or 10 years. Then write a note explaining how it will be aged to perfection in 5 years for them to enjoy on their anniversary. I think it would be nice to include memories from that day or the time surrounding their wedding in the note.

Oh, this makes me think of something really cheesy that mike & I do. He covered a box with scrapbook paper & pictures of us together. He got some girls in his class to help. Then when we write each other cute little notes or give each other cards we stick them in the box afterwards. On our 1 year anniversary I was getting ready in the bedroom. When I walked out he had scattered the entire box all over the apartment. After we got back from dinner we sat on the floor & took turn reading the notes to each other. It was wonderful! It reminded me of all the reasons why I love him. So now we have 3 boxes & I'm starting the 4th. Each one is more fun to make than the last because we have more memories & pictures together. This one will have pictures from our biggest vacation yet (UK & France) and our engagement pictures. So maybe a memory box would be a nice gift. If anyone is interested I'll descibe how its made.

Aww he's a keeper, I can't get Everton to write his wedding vows, let alone love notes, and then have him actually make the box to put them in HA! Then take them out, and scatter them around our house, with the intent of spending the evening reading them. Much alcohol, lots of sex, and throw a game in there and maybe he might listen to my story about how a girl I know, fiance made this box and filled it with...

Love the wine idea!

I can't get him to do it anymore. I think its because its no longer original. Like I said, this is my craft project now. I try to pull out the notes & read them to him, but he doesn't usually play along. But he does still write notes. They were never like poetic love notes. Just cute little notes saying to have a good day or little inside jokes. I was just on the phone with the wedding coordinator. He slipped me a note saying "do you want a burger for dinner check -yes -no -your cute." That will make it in the box.

I fianlly got a hold of my wedding coordinator!! I still don't have my date set. She told me to email her, which I have been doing. Hopefully this email will get replied to!!

I got the gorillapod for my birthday. It's great! It's small enough to fit in my little purse. I pulled it out at dinner tonight to get a group picture. It can hang on the back of a chair. The top swivels so you can get everything centered easily. I'm going to order a whole bunch for gifts. I have the smallest one & it can also hold my camcorder which is the size of my hand. Everyone is getting gorillapods from me for christmas. Weddings too. It would be great to take on a honeymoon & get pictures when it's just the two of you. Joby - Innovate for Life

A cute idea that I've always wanted to try myself is to take pictures of things in nature or objects that spell out the couples last name and frame them. For intance a leaf that looks like a W, a branch in the shape of an A, etc...

You can buy these also but I think it would be so much more personal to do it yourself.

CD covers? Do you mean the paper that would be in the case or a picture right on the CD?

I love that. As you are out hiking you can just start taking pictures of all the letters you see. That way when a wedding comes up, you can spell out their name. You could do it for new babies too. I might try this.

My new DIY wedding gift will be making movie montages. I just got a camcorder last night. I plan on filming all the weddings I go to. Then use windows movie maker to create a photo/ video montage set to their first dance song.

I've been thinking more about this. You could take pictures in the sand at the beach of all the letters. So that way if you can't find a P in nature, you have the sand one to use. I can't wait to do this on my next hiking trip. We should start a thread to exchange picture ideas once we start making these.

I get too excited about stuff as you can probably tell. woot.gif

Do you have a link to some of the ones they sell? I found this one PERSONALIZED PHOTO WALL ART | Unique, Customizable Home Dhuh.gifcor Gift Spells Words with Photographed Letters found in Nature, Architecture | UncommonGoods

Here are my alphabets so far. This has been a lot of fun. We went on a short hike one day & I started looking around to see how hard it would be to find stuff. Everyone hiking with me started to look too. It was a lot of fun. A few days later I went to a garden at Duke university I go to all the time. It was great to have a whole new way to look at the gardens.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
