i just got back from a short site visit. and they were pretty strict on the dress code. most of the girls down there all look 'cute' so i don't think it's an issue, girls/sandals are definitely fine. but we went to asiana once and were told my fiance needed pants/shoes. we went back the next day and he was wearing jeans and brown full coverage shoes. in writting it also says "3/4 sleeve shirts" but he was wearing a polo which is fine. i think guys just have to wear pants and closed toed shoes, and look 'nice' and they are ok. but i did see a few guy get turned down at asiana because of the pants/sandal thing. and i believe maria marie and the mediteranean restraunt is the same.

Has anyone that has had a symbolic ceremony had a family member/friend perform the ceremony? FI has an Uncle that is an ordained minister who did his cousins destination wedding, and did a wonderful job. I just thought it would be more personable and a more relaxed environment.

 

I emailed Carole on this and she said "how nice is that"

 

I just want to make sure before we ask his Uncle to do it that we don't get down there and the resort say it's not allowed.

Hi! They were not strict at all when we went on our site visit. Jeans are fine, definitly no dress pants needed (not sure about Chefs Plate though). Guys were wearing sandals at dinner and some restaurants even shorts.

Girls can wear whatever they want, pretty much. If you have your swimsuit on you jsut need to put a cover-up on over it.

they weren't strict about it. we called before dinner at asiana, and jeans were totally fine. and girls can get away with pretty much anything, even suuuper casual sundresses.

absolutely you can! my mom (also a licensed pastor) officiated our service and it was great! no problems at all. you could have absolutely anyone do it!

My MOH is making bouquets for the bridesmaids and I was told we would not need to pay a vendor fee. I don't know if that is because they aren't real flowers but I thought I would let you know.

THANK YOU! Glad to hear that! Did you make the ladies in MI aware like was it in your contract, or you just told them when you got down there?

you're welcome! we didn't pay the $400 for a minister, so they knew that we would be providing our own officiant. since it was technically a symbolic ceremony, i don't think they really care what you do! i don't think i told my MI WC, but i did mention to my onsite WC that it would be my mom.

Hello!

 

I just wanted to share what a wonderful experience my guests, fiancee and I had at this location. As a destination wedding bride, there was nothing more scary than committing to a wedding without having first worked out all the miniscule details and touring the facility a thousand times beforehand... I made up my mind on this location because of all the many positive reviews I found on this website and decided to do something very unlike me and just surrender control of things and enjoy the wedding! lol

 

Even though you don't control things way in advance, as soon as you get there and you meet w your wedding consultant, she will work out any detail that you want to see on the actual day. My consultant, Lili, worked out everything from where napkins went, to dispersing flower petals 2 mins before my entrance so the wind wouldn't blow it aways, to count guest heads and making sure everyone was there before going to my suite to walk me down. Truly amazing!

 

My fiancee and I did bring with us personalized napkins, drink mixers, and wedding favors to give it a more personal look. We also used postcards instead of a wedding sign in book that we bought while we were there and layed them around a mariachi hat.

 

Overall, while other brides are high stressed for months before the wedding working out every lil detail ... I had the best time the day before getting pedicures w my friends, and they day of doing the photo session w the photographer. BTW... the salon at the hotel is great w makeup and up does so don't worry about trusting your big day to them! :)

That's such a good idea! I'm going to go to 5th street and just see what I can carry back (w/ my bm's) and see what they say. We'll see.....

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations.
