Silk vs. Clay Flowers - Which is Better?

Recommended Posts

I need your input... for those of you who decided not to go with real flowers, which type did you go with, silk or clay? Are the clay flowers delicate and more difficult to travel with?

I have seen that several people recommended Plumerias Wedding Boutique, unfortunately, they are no longer taking custom orders. Any other suggestionshuh.gif

I absolutely LOVED all of my clay flowers and my bouquet! It sits in my guest room and I get to look at it everyday! It was EXACTLY what I wanted. I highly suggest them!

I purchased mine off of Etsy from FentonFlorals . She is amazing to work with. If you check out my planning thread you can see all of the flowers I had and in my siggy is my bouquet.

We traveled from slc to nyc to turks & caicos and back and the flowers are in perfect condition. I carried my bouquet in a duffle bag on the flight. All the rest of our flowers were in our suitcases. You could drop these and they would be fine.. its more like dont throw them, full force to concrete and expect them to be ok.

Hope this helps. PM with questions!

I'm afraid I don't have any pictures of my bouquet yet, it's only supposed to ship out this week. I got it from Silk Wedding Flowers By Pioneers Of Real Touch Flowers In Artificial Bridal Floral Arrangements though, they have pics from other brides on their site.

I feel like a total and complete noob now. Clay flowers? I had no idea. But honestly, they look pretty real to me, and I hate the idea of wasting real flowers, so this seems to be perfect. Question though:  are they MORE or LESS delicate than silk flowers? (and do silk flowers get crushed, for those of you who know)?

AH! Last question: what does one do with leftover clay/silk flowers after the ceremony/reception? I'm sort of at a loss for ideas.. donate them? use them for... some kind of project? My fiance and I will be moving into a small apartment so it's not like we have tons of room lol (I think he would kill me)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
