I wonder if the disco issue - was just that....an one time issue. Bc a lot of other brides have rented it and didnt say anything about it. I guess I will just have to see how it goes when I am down there and I will decide then whether to rent out the disco or not.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ladies...but the disco issue is not a one time issue. That was the first thing all my guests talked about was how the disco smelled of cat pee (it's in my review). The disco door stays open all the time, and they have stray cats that live at the resort. The disco is not that nice looking either but...it is super fun especially once you get all your guests there.

There is a nice outside area between the La Bombola Bar and the Mexican Buffett, that everyone hangs out at, they have tables and chairs, so that might be an option. You should check on what the entertainment is for the night of the week you are getting married on, and maybe you can just partake in that, until the disco opens, so people can go dancing there after if they want. They do all the evening shows in that area.

We did our speaches in the restaurant, so we could get that out of the way and just go party after. If you want somewhere nicer, you can go to the main lobby (where you check in) and it's not busy...there is a bar there too. Right outside there is a really nice patio/seating area, you could go take that area over.

Hope those options help!

Thanks Jennifer, somehow I overlooked that in your review....hmmm.
I will definitely keep that in mind when it comes my turn. I will check with whomever is the WC at the time if we could use either of those spots instead of the disco.

I will have to save this post somewhere so I dont forget...2012 is too far away!!! lol

Im next. the big days is June 18th. Im doing the steel drum players during cocktail hour in the wedding hut right after the ceremony, then dinner, then Im taking anyone who wants to go to Fusion to see the fire show and salsa dance at 9:00....the disco was my first option but seeing as everyone in my future Hubbys family is allergic to Cats and Cat pee this was my alternitive

cheer2.gifTwo weeks to go, you must be getting so excited. Are you all ready to go or do you still have some last minute things to get together? We will be looking forward to your planning thread - hint hint.....lol

So you said that you were going to take them to "Fusion"? Where is that and what is the cost for each person to go? You will have to let us know how it all turned out when you get back. Atleast we have another option instead of the disco. I know BChilla (Jennifer) had stated that there were other areas to mingle but I think that would be another great alternative if it is as good of a show as it sounds. Any info on it would be helpful for all of us Im sure.

Thanks for posting that idea - and congrats on being next~~~~cheer2.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

ok. So I just returned from my wedding at Sandos. It was perfect. We did the ceremony on the bech then a cocktail hour with appitizers while the steel drum players played. Then the itallian buffet. I opted out of the disco but found a great back up. We took a 5minute cab ride to Fusion. They have a fire show and salsa dancing on the beach every night. I bought one round of drinks and 3 orders of chips and salsa. for 20 people it was $85.00 everyone had a blast and it was so romantic and autentic.

Playa Del Carmen Mexico Beach Hotel Bar & Grill

Maria did a fantastic job.....I used Claudia Rodriguez for pics and the video. They were amazing as well. Let me know if you have any questions

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
