without sounding funny, what was special about your resort and made you pick that above the others? Just thinking perhaps it might be worth getting prices for other places to compare maybe ones that were in you shortlist? x

I got THE email today - the one telling me my dress is ready - so exciting - didnt think i would be this excited now it all seems so real...... i got it from an online company so they will be couriering it to my mums so i should have it next week and then they will make any alterations i may need.
Our price was £6379. We had 6k in our budget for the trip but when FI's wages were cut we wanted that cut to 5k. I have told CW that 5.5k is our max (we also have to add, photos and wedding package on that). I have looked at other hotels on our short list and they came in at around 5k. The flights are only £2000 so the rest is the hotel rate. We searched for months and months and just fell in love with the Palace. Like most of you, you just know when it's the one. We will wait a bit and see what other prices we can get then decide what to do. But if we can avoid changing hotels we will.

Josie so exciting cant wait to see your dress! 8 months to go whoop!!!!

I know how you feel when you find the one....as an alternative, keep in mind that the Barcelo property has something like 5 resorts on the property. The Maya Palace is the highest end one of the 5, but my aunt and uncle stayed at one of the others last year and loved it....said they didn't really think there was much difference between the different resorts on the property. Maybe you could stay a couple nights at the Maya Palace after the wedding. Just an idea! Good luck and I hope it all works out for you!

So I wanted to share our save the dates that are finally finished! My wonderful BM and I are going to finishing tying the bows and stuffing envelopes on Saturday -- while drinking wine of course :)

Sorry for the pic heavy post and for the poor photo quality!

Here's a closeup of our very time consuming raffia bows with seashell brads:

Can't wait to get these in the mail on Monday!! Then I have my dress fitting on Tuesday! I'm so excited to FINALLY be getting things done and I can't wait to see who will actually start booking their trips!

Thank you so much! ! I spent more time than I'd like to admit rewording and redesigning these a million times. Hope our guests like them as much as you do :)

Lindobride - Love your save the dates!! The front picture especially, with the map of Mexico. Did you design these all yourself?

Also, I think Bonnie made a great suggestion with having the shower in the afternoon, as people will drink a lot less. I know what you mean about not wanting to insist on something when others are paying. My MOH is throwing my shower and every time she mentions ideas I'm always quick to try to insist on having it at someone's house or just somewhere cheaper. But I think if you just explain it to your mom, and also offer to pitch in, she'd understand.

Nicola - Are hen nights like our bachelorette parties? I've seen them talked about in a couple of British chick lit books (the BEST beach books:) If so, then trust me, you'd rather have that than a shower haha. The best part about the shower is all the gifts, but for the most part, at least for the ones I've been to, they're pretty dull!

Lindobride your STD's are gorgeous! I wish mine turned out as lovely as yours!

A hen night better be the same as our bachelorette nights b/c I'm going to one tomorrow! lol A friend of mine is back for a quick visit before her wedding (she's currently living in England) and we're having her 'hen night' tomorrow!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
