Wedding Dress Fitting Nightmare! Dont go to this place

Recommended Posts

WARNING ALL YOU WONDERFUL BRIDES TO BE... DO NOT USE FANTASIA BRIDAL IN ROCKY POINT NEW YORK (LONG ISLAND)

So i went for my first fitting today.. should be an exciting time.. right?? well not if your bridal shop turns out to be scam artists!!

Long story short (or semi short lol) when my mother started questing that the seamstress was putting pins in the top of the dress where no work was needed ( i mean literally they were just placed in as if they were just being held there.. not measuring any kind of work that needed to be done) when i have a corset back so if it needs to be tighter it can easily be adjusted by tightening the corset.. anyway they took the pins out after insisting that they had a master seamstress who knows her stuff (but my feelings are.. if the dress fit perfectly without any work being done then why do the work.. so you can make extra money??) so at this point i already have a bad taste in my mouth that they are trying to scam me by getting extra money for work that isnt necessary.. and then while questioning the pricing of the hem & the bussel point we couldnt get a straight answer from them.. so when my mother suggested that i bring it to someone else and get it done cheaper the lady started telling me if i choose to do that she understands but she will have to charge me for the time that the seamstress spent with me (yes the whole 3 mins that she took to pin HALF of my dress bc she claimed she will just follow that hem all the way around) so when i said well you never told me and it never said in the contract that i would be charged a fee if i didnt go with them.. she claimed "well i thought it was understood from our conversations" WHATT!!!! so when i asked her how much it would be for the three mins of her seamstress' time she came up with some story that this is a master seamstress and they cant just have people come in and see how the seamstress would do the work and then go back to there own seamstress and pay less for the work. they have a master seamstress so they basically cant have people coming to "learn" how she would do it! r u f-in kidding... MASTER SEAMSTRESShuh.gif?? and the kicker after she "did us the courtesy of not charging us" for the three mins of her time.. she put my wedding dress in a clear GARBAGE BAG..... yes you read right not in a bridal bag bc i spent a nice chunk of change on a WEDDING GOWN from her establishment.. no she decided to take the professional route and put my dress in an f-in garbage bag!!!!!!!!! O & ps... while i was on the phone making my appt for the fitting the women tried multiple times to convince me not to bring my MOH, mother and future MIL... now i can clearly understand why.. bc i was just so excited about my gown that i wouldnt have picked up on the pins that they placed needlessly to raise the price of my alterations!!! Thank god i was able to find someone to do these alterations for a fraction of the cost.. so maybe this was a blessing in disguise! o.. but wait.. i guess i just wont have the work of a "master seamstress"!!! o well!!

SooOOOoo final warning to all you wonderful brides to be out there.. and i know many of you live in NEW YORK.... do not use FANTASIA BRIDAL IN ROCKY POINT NEW YORK (LONG ISLAND)..... unless of course you would like your WEDDING DRESS handed to you in a GARBAGE BAG

o and ps... yes i definately am emailing the link to this post to them so maybe they will learn that treating one customer poorly will reach thousands of potential customers!

i would be mortified to have my establishment shown in that light but sadly i dont think they will learn any lesson by reading this post (that i just finished emailing them btw!).. but hopefully it will make a bride think twice about the way she wants to be treated when spending her hard earned money (and alot of it) and decide to get her gown at a different location!

Wow! I'm glad you were able to find another seamstress! They should really be ashamed. Good that you stood up for yourself - I think so many of these shops run scams. I have a friend who was a bridesmaid in a wedding and is tiny - she tried on a size 6 at the shop that fit perfectly and they tried to get her to order a size 10!!!

What a HORRIBLE experience to have when getting your wedding gown! Also, I would copy and paste this review to other sites as well. By just googling their name and putting reviews at the end, other sites (one which the establishment even commented on so I know they read it) pop up and it would be nice that other brides find out about this.

I'll be looking for a gown in a few months and NY is right next door. I will NOT be utilizing their services! Thanks for the post!

Ahhh...here's a review from one of the sites, seems other brides have had the same problems!!!

"Firstly, I was charged with alterations for which the seamstress never did (when I tried the dress on at home, I felt something poking me near the hem. I noticed that ALL OF THE PINS WERE STILL THERE!) Secondly, they performed alterations for which I had never consented to (and then charged me for them!). Thirdly, they broke the clasp in the back so that the dress wouldn't zip up properly. The stories between the owner and her workers were never consistent and constantly changed in favor of the owner. It was impossible to reason with the owner, who is a real scam artist! Every time I tried to discuss the situation with her, she continuously interrupted me and stated, This is not up for discussion. You need to leave the store. She was extremely rude and insulting. Overall, Fantasia's Bridal in Rocky Point was a major disappointment! This was a major inconvenience, an extreme expense, and highly insulting. No other bride or her party should experience this."

Apparently you're not the only one! I'm SO glad you brought your MOH and mother along who helped catch it in time!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
