We went to part of the massive show at the end around 7pm which was a giant amphitheater that was full and it was interesting, but after walking around for the whole day we were exhausted and couldn't finish the show. Played with the tons of Bengal cats hanging out outside the gates before hopping in the taxi tho, lol.

We loved it, I'll probably send a few friends there and maybe my parents for our wedding, but I'd like to do a different tour to experience new things.
Xcaret is an eco park in Riveria Maya. They have weddings there, but it was too expensive for us. They also have shows and places to enjoy swimming, boating, cenotes, etc.

It has changed effective 6/1/2010. Now those staying 5 nights or longer get $1500 (per room) in "Vacation Dollars" that can be used for the tours, golf, spa/salon, etc. ($750/room for 3-4 night stays). Looks like a much better deal than was offered before (especially if you want to play golf or go to the spa). I'm hoping we can use vacation dollars to pay for our wedding day salon appointments (like hair & makeup). Only $300 of the $1500 can be used for salon/spa services, but that would definitely cover my hair & makeup appointments.

It also says you can use the $1500 on the Precious Collection Wedding Packages. I'm not sure exactly what that means. Maybe someone with a more responsive WC could ask for more details on that.
I asked Claudia about that, but they said no that the spa and salon are two different things. But often times I've heard this information may not be current. So I would say ask when you get there. I was a little disappointed on the $750 credit because the main reason we booked the moon was for the free trips. now we need to reduce the amount of trips we and our guests will be taking during our stay.

we dont have any gifts for anyone.

BMs dresses are picked out but they havent ordered them. grooms suit is picked out (studio suits) but haven't ordered it. i have my dress, no shoes. groomsmens look is half picked out, but not ordered.

im not making any fans/cards, but i have to do my oots.

photographer is booked =) still have to pick all our wedding music and find the sheet music for the harpist.

have to shop for clothes/bathing suits etc and get dress altered.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I agree, we have spent an insane amount so far. I think its because we have waited too long to decide where we wanted the wedding and now that we have we are paying everything all at once. I have one maid of honor and one best man (both family) which helps, but still lots of money for what they are wearing. I havent ordered any favors yet and I am sincerely scared to begin! LOL!

If you read through the reviews there are some recommendations from brides of people who did their make up and they loved it. However, like you, every time I have had my make up done, I ended up hating it and felt it was too much. I plan to go to Sephora and ask them to do my make up so they can teach me to put it on for a more dramatic look but then since I will be doing it, it can adjust for how much I really want on. They can also suggest some sweat proof make up.

Reading through the fine print is it for groups 25 people and under and you can't use a TA. A little disappointing. I liked the idea of an upgraded wine list :)

The promotion says $300 can be used on "Spa and/or Beauty Salon Services," and they told you it couldn't be used for the beauty salon? They are very inconsistent in the information they provide.

I would think $750 would be plenty of money for excursions (unless you have more than 2 people in your room I guess). All the tours seem to all be $100 or less.

Hi everyone! Congrats on your upcoming nuptials! My fiance and I are getting married on Oct 23rd this year.

So far it hasn't been very difficult at all. The anticipation of hearing back from a vendor is the hardest thing I've come across. I decided to book Peter Mills of All About Photography as my photographer (and will still use the hotel's photographer for the ceremony--i just didn't want to book their package as it was too much for too little and I've heard mixed reviews about them so i wouldn't want to chance it) . We have 3 kids so breaking the bank on a wedding is not an option and Peter had exactly the package I'm looking for at exactly the price I'm willing to spend.

We also decided to go with the Amethyst collection. Purple is in this year and the pics on the proposal looked beautiful. We are having a cocktail hour and a 3 hr reception afterwards and are hoping to use the free group dinner that comes with our package for the rehearsal dinner instead. In the package details it mentioned that if we have a certain amt of guests stay at the resort weâ€re entitled to a free cocktail hour, which is also included in our package so Iâ€m trying to see if that additional cocktail hour could just be applied to the reception cost to offset the extra expense-will keep you posted. I went to the Moon Palace on Oct 23rd this past year and was very pleased with the resort- very spacious (rooms could have been a little larger) but overall thereâ€s plenty to do and see and the wedding department is beautiful and coordinators are quite knowledgeable and eager to assist. I too have found that theyâ€re not very responsive to my emails (on limited instances Iâ€ll receive a response right away while during other times it will take several weeks—Iâ€m assuming theyâ€re just inundated with emails and requests plus have to actually set up the weddings so they have their hands full.) Well I have my dress, have the photographer and am now just awaiting a response from a DJ and florist and hope the resort will allow me to bring them in. We shall see. If anyone has any recommends on DJs or florists they would be greatly appreciated.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
