Thank you for the welcome!

Im really very excited. We picked Playacar Palace because I know of some people that stayed there and absolutely loved it. Great reviews. *Food, service, etc.

Also, we didnt want a huge wedding here in NYC - our engagement party was ridiculously expensive with 250 people, a 6 hour open bar (top shelf) - and at the end of the night we realized, we didnt get a chance to speak to each other or eat dinner. LMAO.

We invited the same amount of people, and we have a small group coming - 35 people. *Which believe it or not is fairly large for a destination. Most people have 10-15.

Anyway...we are thrilled and cant wait to get there. We leave on Wednesday of next week...

Hi Alisha! That's so exciting your wedding is right around the corner. I'm sure we would all love to see pics when you get back!

We have not chosen a specific package- as of right now we're just doing the free one and will add on any other services we want. I'm hoping their regular entertainment is pretty good.

Has anyone heard if they do special dinners or anything on holidays? We will be there on Cinco de Mayo and were planning to do our bachelor/bachelorette parties that night. I'm sure even if there's nothing going on at the resort Playa will have lots of parties going on!

We just reserved for May 6th 2011!! That is crazy! I would love to keep in touch with you over the booking/reservation process to help make sense of this all!

Do you know when sunset is at that time? We looked online at this years sunset, and it said 7pm, but I just checked out the beach cam that was posted on this thread and it was already very dark (at 7:30pm). We booked a 4pm wedding so that we'd hopefully have enough time after the ceremony to take pics.

ahhh that is awesome! We are doing ours at 6 pm and we'll hopefully get in enough pictures before it gets dark. We're probably going to have a really quick ceremony and we may do a lot of pictures beforehand too, so hopefully it'll work out.

I wonder how many other weddings are that weekend too? I'm gonna have to get some rooms blocked off fast, lol! How many people are you inviting?

We are going to be inviting around 80ppl, but we're only expecting about 20 to actually come (we know we're asking a lot of ppl to come down to a destination wedding). I looked and saw that 3 time slots have been booked on the friday (may 6th) and 4 time slots have been booked on the sat (may 7th) so there will be a few weddings there during that time!

That live webcam feed from the resort next door is a really handy tool! That will be a good way to gauge sun-down etc for pictures and what not. Where are you doing your ceremony by the way? I saw on a couple of the wedding websites of other ladies on here that the popular choice seems to be the north solarium...? Or have you considering doing it right on the beach? I'm not sure what to do...I dont want to sweat my face off on the beach, but it would be beautiful!! :)

Just a note ladies the sun doesn't set over the water on that side sad.gif we wanted to do a sunset thing too - it will still be beauitful just not as I pictured it.....we have our wedding booked Nov 23 but we aren't having it on the resort - 80 ppl booked so far!!!!

We're thinking about doing the beach ceremony. My only concern is that being so close to town and the ferry and everything I don't want a lot of gawkers in bikinis and such watching my wedding, lol.

I can't believe a resort that small would do that many weddings in one day- it makes me really worried about getting rooms. We're inviting almost 100 people and hoping 35-50 of those will come.

CamilleA: Oh that is too bad that the sun doesn't set over the beach, but I guess it makes sense (being that we're on the eastern side)...i guess sunrise will be nice though!

Kurlyks: I understand your concerns about onlookers; I totally don't want to feel like a public spectacle! And the large number of weddings being performed on our weekend does raise a few issues as well...I feel as though we're all looking for our "special day" but it's not so special when you're being pumped through the ceremonial chain hour after hour....hmm...

Tanya Marie - thanks for the idea of the using "Mexico" as the opening song on the site - I borrowed that from yours! Here's a peek - please feel free to use any info you find helpful!

Stephanie- I just noticed that I will be getting married the day after you! I have been a little slow in my planning and I was wondering who you were using as a photographer?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
