Any 2011 Brides out there?

I've just bought a dress!!! I actually got it off the website oncewed.com....the lady was a dream to deal with....she was selling her dress brand new b/c her FI had mentioned that he didn't like mermaid style, and she'd already purchased a mermaid style dress! I'll be obsessively checking the tracking now until it gets here! I'll post pics as soon as it arrives and I can tee up with my MOH!

After the debacle with my "knock-off" dress, FI has said no more dresses, so this had better be the one! Very excited! I am in LOVE with this dress!

As for the guys, we are a bit stuck on this one. We are not too ipressed with anything we've seen thus far. Some formalwear stores will rent tan suits, but we didn't like them in person. We found one we actually did like for rent, and the rental cost was $200 given the length of the rental (over a week)

Then we found that same suit that we liked for sale online:

Sand 'Riviera' 2 Button Notch Destination Suit Coat

(Sorry, too lazy to upload photo!)

Jacket is 129 and pants are 80. They said they'd do 10% off since we're ordering so many. So for about $189 they can own it rather than waste the $ renting.

Do you guys think that's too much to ask the guys to spend? Be honest if you do.
The other option would be have FI wear the whole suit and the guys just wear the pants and white shirts.

Keep in mind though that we're getting married in church so it's a bit more formal. I think the shirt and pants would look nice with brown sandals, but the guys are wearing dress shoes.
$189 is cheap for a suit. I have seen a lot of guys with tan suits and dressy shoes in a church wedding from photographers' blogs in the area. My only concerns will be for some guys who doesn't wear suit often, $189 seems a bit excessive to buy smth that they will only wear once (they don't think like chicks who can spend thousands on a dress, and wear it once) and also the re-wearability of tan suits, again I don't see tan suits trendy or become trendy any time soon. How about light grey? light grey suit can look nice with white or pale blue shirts...just a suggestion

Michelle,

yeah..that was my concern too. My wedding is in July..so it will be HOT and SWEATY. but the dress is so nice...sigh..

Ladies, I like Mermaid dress too...except, they aren't for everyone, I have seen some brides who looked like a fat seal in a mermaid style dress. Since I am only 5ft3, I guess I will get another pair of killer heels, and wear it just for the ceremony and pictures, then change into another dress and comfy shoes for the reception.

Barbie, your previous dress was nice, but if you don't feel it is the one, then hopefully this one will be the ONE...heehee...

Aw thanks! once I got the "knock-off" on I was not in love. I thought I could force it but I couldn't. I am so in love with the mermaid style!
This one better be the one or else FI is going to kill me! lol

I do like light gray. Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe that is the way to go, Just get some Banana Republic pants and be done with it. LOL

There is a thread on here about the $99 linen suits from India. We may order one for FI and see how we like the quality.

I absolutely love mermaid style wedding dresses - but i sooooo agree they do not suit everyone. I knew in my heart it wouldnt really suit me but i had to try one on when i was searching for my dress and it made me look like a seal. I had the height and the waist; just my backside and hips made me look like i should fall to the floor, drop onto my belly and pull myself along by my arms to the nearest shoreline!!!!!! Oh barbiegirl_27 i know you will look stunning - you have one v relaxed FI - mine would darn well have a hissy fit over ordering another dress - lol!

How exciting! Can't wait to see it! That was a lucky find. Is the dress in your size or will you have to get it sized down?

I bought a sample dress size 10 and I am finally getting it sized next week! I cant wait to see what it will actually look like once it's nice and snug! (I won't tell you how many times I've tried it on when FI isn't home LOL)

Bonnie - I love the dress but agree that a high neck may feel too hot in that Mexican sun. Mermaid dresses in general are very hot! Because you don't get the air flow that a dress that sits away from the body will give you. But the mermaid style fits me perfectly, and the A lines just didn't seem to do anything for me. So I'm just going to suffer in the heat, haha. Although I do plan to find a fun short dress to change into after dinner! My wedding isn't on the beach, so I'm getting great heels to go with this dress and to show off with my short dress for the party part:) My dress came in WAY under budget, so I've gotten the okay from my parents to get Louboutins! I'm so much more excited to shoe shop than I ever was to dress shop!!!

I'm lucky he's very good to me....I screwed up on my wedding band, and the store would only give us a credit, and they don't have anything like what I wanted....so I've found another at a different store for a little bit more. I said I would get him a watch with the store credit from the first band! That helped placate him quite a bit!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
