I think it applies to most resorts re the blood tests. I've read we will have ours the day after we arrive and then it will be 4 days till the wedding so they only take a day or two to come back!

I have contacted the WC's at our hotel already and we're not booked yet. I dont think it hurts to let them now in advance who you are. I think if the TA books the wedding they mainly deal with the WC. But i have been told by brides that have been there and done it, that it is best to contact them direct yourselves too. Just to safe guard yourself and ask direct questions with the resort! (make sure you get what you want and print off all emails and take them with you) When we book the TA will contact the resort about the wedding and confirm we have booked and they will already know who we are :o) x

I agree with this - when I was looking at stuff sometimes on other threads on the forum I was sometimes made to feel that my questions werent important because my wedding was a while off when actually I think its good to ask early and be prepared!! x

We too have our blood test the day after we arrive and im led to believe it is within 48 hours you get the result.

I havent had my actual date confirmed yet as it takes quite a while if you are having a legal ceremony. But the documents I have from Thomson advise they make all the initial contact for you ie; confirming the date, arranging the registra etc but they will provide me with the WC details and i am to contact them direct once this is all established. I have been told though they wont really deal with any question etc until at least 3 months before you arrive. But you will probably get the answer to most of your questions from the other brides on here anyway.

Thanks for all the info so far ladies :-)

I am totally baffled, today i went into first choice to ask some questions regarding wedding packages as i have seen a specific wedding package that i would like on the hotels website so wanted to know if the TA offer it and for how much it would be.

The TA replied that we would have to book the basic wedding package with them which would be £795 and then add everything on individually!!! now what the wedding package i want offers would cost totally more with the TA booking everything seperatly than booking the package direct with the hotel, i dont know if i would be able to book the holiday with the TA and book the wedding direct with the hotel would this cause problemshuh.gif??

I am totally lost

I contacted Caribbean Warehouse today and they said the same as i already knew, we can't get prices on our hotel till the end of the month. As for the wedding he told me that they put in a request for a wedding and then you pretty much do it yourself direct with the hotel from there. Is that what they told you roxmysockz??

I wouldn't pay more because they are doing it all separate... If they do a package you've seen why can't they just book you that? I find it odd and would enquire more about it before you put a deposit down with them. Maybe go into TCook and see if they say the same!

I dont think it would be a problem because as far as the UK TA is concerned you're only booking a holiday - they dont need to know you are getting married there as well. You can then book your wedding direct with the hotel - its all about saving the pennies.
My basic package is £950 but than includes all legal fees etc i can then arrange add ons with the hotel direct so it is cheaper.

Michelle2011 thats exactly what my thoughts were but i mentioned i had seen a package on the hotel website and they were adamant that if booking with First Choice i would have to book the basic package and then add on at each individual cost which i find bizarre!!!!

Maybe it might be worth me speaking to Thomas Cook and see if they could book this resort even though they dont advertise it??

I would if i were you. Just get a second opinion! Our hotel is Cosmos but most high street TA's can book it for us so i'm sure if you ask TCook they will try and help! First Choice dont sound to helpful at all. Let us know what happens! x

We have booked a Thomsons only hotel and we have booked through TC and the wedding package was better than First Choise & Thomsons?... i dont know how this works.... TC also gave me 100% better service when i asked all my wedding questions... I would definatly reccommend talking to TC just to see if they do your hotel. xox

As Michelle has said let us know how you get on x

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
