Wow! So happy to find this thread. Planning a DW in June 2011.. aiming for the 29th but must wait and see. I'm a teacher and will find out in a month where I'll be teaching next year so we haven't put a deposit down.

We did a site visit in March at the Valentin Imperial Maya in the Riviera Maya. It's a bit pricey (1700-1800.. even in June!) and having second thoughts. Not sure what to do. Many other 5 star hotels in the area are the same price though. Any suggestions?

Southernsweetie: Me too trying to lose weight before Oct to try dresses LOL! I started weight watchers last week.. my weigh-in is Monday so must be good on weekends for this to work. Keep me updated on your progress.. I would love to lose 50-55 pounds :/

OMG, Chris! I love, love, love your dress!!!

Heidilynn: My TA quoted me prices for Moon Palace (4 days/3nights) for less than $850pp. Of course, it doesn't include airfare, which I'm sure will be much pricier from Canada. Check out the reviews on MP. They have great info and great pics - as I'm sure the other reviews do. This research should help you to narrow down a list for your TA to research. As far as the weight loss, I'm so glad to have a partner-in-suffering. We can work together to look hot in our gowns just like Peterpanpixiedust AKA Chris. wink.gif

Southern... haha! You might think so, but I'm having the opposite problem. I am way underweight. I started having digestion problems right after college and first I blew up in the mid section, but then I started loosing a lot, and now I'm really bony in my chest and ribs and I've lost my boobs :-( they are deflated right now). I have to be really careful, because I started loosing my hair too. But I went to the doctor and they couldn't find anything wrong, so I'm hoping that protein drinks work. I want my boobs back (I really didn't have much to begin with....lol). I love my dress because all the detail and the sweetheart neckline kinda hides it. I bet you ladies are gorgeous just the way you are. You should go and try on some dresses; I swear, no matter what we all look like, the perfect one is out there and will transform us all into goddesses! Besides, somebody already thinks we are beautiful the way we are.

My TTD dress proof pics are in, check in this thread!

PPPD: Try a small milkshake a day. I'm not sure if your digestive issues will allow for the milk, but if so, it works wonders for weight gain. I used this trick for my son during his battle with cancer. It's small, but packed with calories. And you're right, someone does love us the way we are. Thanks for the encouragement!

I'm so sorry to hear about your son! I hope all is well now. You are right, and vanilla is my fav (esp from McDonalds), but like you guessed, milk is off my list now. I still do have dairy every once in a while ( i just can't avoid pizza and cheese with wine) but, I have found some great soy substitutes though, which are apparently just as jam backed with fat and sugar. I get the cuties (little soy ice cream sandwiches), but the straight out of a carton still tastes too much like soy.

Yea! A June 2011 thread!! I'm getting married on June 25, 2011 at the Iberostar Del Mar. I just paid our deposit and am meeting with our photographer this weekend. A friend of my brother-in-law has her own photography business, and she's agreed to come with us & not charge, as long as we pay for her flight & stay. I figure that's not a bad deal :)

Our Save the Dates are probably going out in September - I already picked them out from Wedding Paper Divas. I just wanted to wait until we could have some travel info before we sent it out.

I probably am going to start dress shopping in the fall - I found a few that I liked from David's Bridal. I'll just have to see what they look like on me :)

It definitely feels real now that I'm booked :)

We sent out our Save-the-Dates about six weeks ago. I did the passport STDs from scratch (mostly with help from my very talented daughter). I am also sending out newsletters to our guests about every 2-3 months. We just want to keep everyone excited and talking about the trip (you know - the old dangling carrot trick!) wink.gif I just finished the first draft - here it is. Let me know what you think!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
