Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Thanks rfk!

Reception was supposed to end at 10:30 (yes 4 hours). Quiet hours at AB start at 11pm, and we decided we wanted the extra 1/2 hour. Lomas said we had to pay them $40 to rent the sound system for the extra time. It had to be cash on the spot, so I'm pretty sure the Lomas rep there just pocketed the money. It was a rip off but worth it b/c we were having a good time.

Some went to bed right after that and the rest of us went to the tequila bar!

Do you think rose petals on the aisle would be too much? Probably? Hmm..ok no petals.

And I havent decided what to do with the top of the arch. Flowers? Fabric? I am thinking maybe if I do the planters (even though I got quote $250 each) I will not have to do anything to the rest of that monsterous wooden thing. :) What do you think?Hmm..I also found this gourgeous vintage/french crystal chandleier on saveoncrafts.com that is super cheap. I am think that would be really pretty to hang above us but not sure how to make that work.

Amanda, it all depends on your budget and what you want to spend money on. And how much stuff you want to lug down there with you (I can't imagine youd get many 26" chandeliers into one suitcase)!!!

It would be gorgeous to have tons of flowers everywhere and those gorgeous chairs. I love the fancy weddings featured in magazines with flowers everywhere. I would love to have something like that but we chose to spend our $ on excursions for my guests, welcome bags, and a fabulous photographer.

One thing you could do to keep the cost down, is to have cheaper flowers. I am having 2 large glass vases at the foot of the wedding gazebo thing filled with white gladiolas (which I love) and its $43 per vase. Thats better than a $250 planter and you could even have 1 vase per row at the foot of the chairs leading down the asile. Gladiolas come in lots of different colors if you wanted them to color coordinate. Just a suggestion!

In any event, get quotes on everything and then determine what is worth it to you and what is not. Defo have everything transferred to your reception too b/c the ceremonies are only like 20-30 mins!!!

We used their fabric for everything. Colored fabric costs more than white, fyi. Our jute runner was $40, the pink fabric draped over the wall was $75, the two white pieces of fabric over the beach gazebo in the background were $75 each, and the chair fabric was $4 each. Why the jute runner was only $40 but the other, smaller piece of pink was $75 is beyond me!

The set-up fee we paid was $40 onsite to the WCs. My understanding is that that was only for the decorations we brought with us (mostly reception stuff). There shouldn't be a charge if you're not bringing anything extra.

Seriously, a LOT of the things they do doesn't make sense...but that's ok wink.gif

I'm thinking about renting the chair covers, and bringing everything else. I really want to keep it pretty simple...maybe just some aqua and lime green tulle (my colors) wrapped around the gazebo, and chair ties, and that's it. That pink you used was SO pretty...totally "tropical", perfect for the beach.

Decisions, decisions! I just realized I'm under the 9 month mark for the wedding, so I better get my booty in gear and start making decisions!

P.S...still totally looking forward to your review :) I'm hoping I can show my friends/fam who are hemming and hawing about paying to stay at the resort, and are considering staying at one of the "cheapo" places in Cancun (grrr). But it sounds like you had an awesome experience!

That's great advice! And they are only charging you $34 each for the vase rental and flowers? That doesn't sound the Karisma resorts I know. :)

.
Also, how tall are the vases you are renting? And are the flowers submerged in water? Or do they come out of the top of the vase?

My official colors were magenta and coral. The chair ties were coral and the runners and fabric magenta. They may have called it fuchsia at the resort. It can be hard in some of the pics to see the differentiation between the two colors, but in real life it was there.

I promise I'm going to write a review! I haven't forgotten. In fact, I started it just last night. It's just that reviews are looooooong and time consuming. My goal is to get my resort, photog, and excursion reviews up this weekend.

If your family stays elsewhere they are seriously going to regret it. AB was the best money we could have spent! I mean, serious luxury.

Actually, I have no idea! I sent them a picture and said I want it to look like this. Who knows what it will actually look like day of! But I remember asking one of the girls that got married on here - Jen of Jen & Fred - her pix were from Elizabeth Medina you should search for them - how she got such great flowers and she said she told Karisma what exactly she wanted and they recreated it. So, I am not too worried about it - but I also don't really care that much about the ceremony set up - so I never aksed the questions. You will be able to see my pictures in 4 weeks though!!!

Here is the picture I said I wanted my gazebo to look like:

I must have looked at 200 weddings on the beach pictures to finally decide so I know how you feel.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
