surprise: I know I had the hardest time finding non-flip-flop flats! It was a choice between some $90 dollar ones at Nordstroms and a couple of $15 pairs at Target. I went with the Target ones! As much as I love shoes, $90 for one day shoes I can't fit into the budget. I keep thinking what I can do with the extra $75. (I have kept the receipts of course and will return them if I find "the shoes".)

We spent a LOT of time coming up with the Barcelo too. It was not my first choice, but I am very happy with it. It came in waaay cheaper than the others we were looking at and was VERY kid friendly (we have lots of folks traveling with small ones) and offered a variety for our guests. I think we will all love it! Where and what time are you getting hitched? What are your thoughts on reception? What are your bringing?

Daily2011: I know, the only pair I found that were just ok were still $110!! So not happening. Like you said, there’s plenty of other things I could do with that money.

We were looking at the Occidental Grand Xcaret because the price was right, the resort is beautiful and there would be some really nice pictures from there, but they have hardly any beach and one of our favorite things about any trip is the beach. The Barceló was only a little more expensive, and we’re pretty happy with our choice.

We’re getting married at 2:00 pm. I think we have Xhail as a WC and I have sent her an email but I haven’t got a reply yet. I want to have the ceremony on the beach and I’m not sure what locations they have for that, but for the reception I’ve heard the Coral Grill or their new location (Playa Azul?) are really nice. We booked our wedding package with Transat rather than the hotel and I’m not sure yet what locations are available with that and what we’d have to pay extra for.

I haven’t decided on favors or decorations or anything yet so I don’t know what we’ll have to bring with us. Hopefully not too much; I’m trying to keep it simple.

What about you? Where/when is your ceremony? Have you decided on what you’re doing for your reception yet?

WE are at 4pm at the gazebo for the wedding. I have not figured out the reception yet but am sure that if we get our wish it will be either outside or at one of the open air restaurants. We are going all the way to Mexico it would be a shame to be inside unless we have to be. I have emailed Claudia to figure out what is available.

I haven't figured out any decor either, but know that I don't want to do too much. I planned a destination wedding because I wanted the setting to be the decoration. I also don't want to stress out about all the stuff we would have to pack. We are trying to come up with some options for some sort of OOT bag or gift or extra reception or event for our guests but don't have any idea what that might be. As a type A personality being this laid back isn't really me! :)

How about everyone else? What are you planning?

Daily2011: I love your idea! Of extra event or gift for the guests!

I really love the idea of doing OOT bags but I'm worried about taking all the extra luggage or giving them out too early before we leave?

Since we have been to Cancun before and enjoy a few great days out and events maybe we could organize one wit all the guests to say thank you, but narrowing down just one that everyone will enjoy may be harder than i thought! LOL! So I'm still stressing over this! Anyone with other idea's for me here please jump in!

Im definitely making welcome books though so compiling lots of various things that could go into that and getting fabulous idea's from the ladies on this forum!

My main task the now is getting my head round everything I need to make DIY invitations! Really want them to have a wow factor but not to cost a fortune! We'll see!! If I can only stop changing my mind!! Lol!

When are you all sending out your invites? Have/are you doing STD's?

How are we all getting on?

Some of you are so organised! Puts me to shame.

I know what you mean about finding shoes - flat wedding shoes are really hard to find i got some for £40 for my AHR as it is in Feb and will be too freaking cold to wear sandals or go barefoot! I am going barefoot for the ceremony as it right out on the beach. The picture doesnt really do them justice but then you wont see them that much as my dress is long - if you can envisage it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
