Just booked at Azul Beach!

Recommended Posts

Hi JenK-I'm pretty sure the nightlife is quiet. AB is located near Puerto Morelos, which is a sleepy little town. It's about 30 minutes from Cancun (to the north) and I think about 30 minutes to Playa del Carmen (south). I had asked my TA about night time activities, and he said people normally just stay on the resort and do their activities. But you always have the option of getting transportation to some of the bigger cities for a more varied nightlife.

Oh yeah, its quiet from what I have heard. There is a tequila bar that stays open til 1am and I have heard they'll let you play your iPod, but besides that, nothing really. B/c I am having 20 crazy friends in there early 30s (late 20s) - I figure we are going to party anywhere we go. Including on the beach til 3am if we want :)

I loved the small boutique resort as well. To tell you the truth, I would not have picked Mexico if I had not found Azul Beach. I did not want one of those super cheesy mega resorts....

Last thing too - I did not want to be up partying at a disco until 3am the week of my wedding. I know what happens when FI and I do that and the pictures on wedding would not be pretty.

But 2 nights before wedding we have rented buses to take everyone from 8pm to 2am to Cancun for bar hopping. We did want some craziness at Daddy Rock and Coco Bongo of course!

I'm just back from my wedding at Azul Beach and if wild night life is something you want your resort to have, then AB is not it. They have nightly entertainment in the pool bar, but it's all a very relaxed atmosphere. There's not really any dancing. The tequila bar is open until 1am (technically, though they'll stay open later if you're hanging out drinking) and tends to be where people get rowdy. Who wouldn't with all the tequila they have?? LOL.

Even still, AB can be summed up in one word: CHILL

The resort fit us and our group perfectly: small and intimate with beautiful grounds, amazing food, over-the-top customer service, and the nicest staff you'll ever meet. We were there 10 days and felt like we were living in the lap of luxury.

I'll be writing a full review of everything down the road, but in the meantime feel free to ask me any questions!

Welcome back Mrs!!! I'm so glad you guys had such a good time at AB, and that the weather cleared up for your wedding day (saw your post in the Azul thread). Can't wait for your review...and honestly, I'm feeling soooo good about picking AB because it sounds absolutely perfect for what I had in mind!

Welcome Spicytuna! Since all us AB brides lost our own thread a while back, the few of us that are on BDW hang out on the Azul Sensatori thread:

http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo.../index886.html

Since all the planning for both goes through the same Miami office, a lot of the wedding details are the same for both resorts.

Hooray, your wedding is so soon!! thewave.gif

We did a group contract, but there are pros and cons both ways.  We only had 13 rooms and for us this worked out.  However, with a group contract you have to figure out how you're going to cover the initial deposit, and while on the one hand your rates are locked in, on the other if rates drop you can't get the lower rate.  There also a minimum number of rooms you need to keep your contract, so make sure you'll have enough people.

A good TA should be able to help you figure out what's best for your specific group.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
