Don't get Married At Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa Cancun

Recommended Posts

I am completely in panic mode right now and crying. Our wedding is 16 days away! The only reason I booked this resort is because of the beautiful view from the gazebo! I mean honestly, we have stayed at nicer and fancier hotels in Cancun before. But I booked this one soley on the wedding gazebo and reviews. Now I have 16 days until my wedding and it sounds like they are changing everything! I am very distraught, I got our friends and family to book this resort knowing that the lobby, pool, and rooms weren't great...but I hoped our gorgeous wedding at the gazebo would make up for it. Now I am not sure! I can't even sleep at night. This is a terrible thing to do. Especially to a bride that would have no idea if it wasn't for this website! And I LOVE Cecilia but I haven't heard from here in 2 weeks and I am getting very nervous!! Our wedding is May 2nd, and I will update everyone as soon as I return. sad.gif

Don't despair ladies! Even if the gazebo remodelling is not finished by the time you get there, I'm sure the hotel will have made arrangements somewhere else on the grounds to hold the ceremony. As you're aware, the grounds are beautiful, and you will probably get your choice of where to hold the ceremony. And, you will probably be able to wrangle a few freebies and concessions out of them because of this, so definitely take advantage of that! Ultimately, it's only a structure. The most important thing is you're marrying your best friend with your closest friends and family present, and nothing can top that!

Yeah I am in panicking mode... When I saw this I was on the verge of tears. I emailed Cecilia right away and no respnce. My worry is that its suppose to be done a week before I go down there and what if it isnt... I will blow a casket.... The ceremony is so important for me. My fiance is trying to calm me down and said to think positive but damn thats hard. I am just hoping that its done b/c if not I dont know what to dohuh.gif? Besides let them hear my mouth (but I know that wont do any good)

I feel exactly the same way. The gazebo is supposed to be finished 2 days before my wedding! That is cutting it very close. All I can do is hope and pray that it is ready. If not, they are not going to be happy with what I have to say upon arrival! angry.gif As I stated before, Cecilia is my WC also and I did email her and haven't heard anything back. If I do, I will let everyone know what she says. This is just so frustrating!

lucy, nice thoughts, and i would agree if dreams cancun was an especially pretty resort, but really, it's very minimalist and older. the gazebo (or really the location of the gazebo ... the gazebo itself isn't all that) is the main reason i chose dreams. no other location there is as nice, unless you want a beach wedding, which is lovely, but was not possible for me with handicapped guests. i would have thrown a fit for sure.

Amy I agree with you. I do think it's unfair that they didn't tell thier April, May weddings that they were planning such a huge renovation. Hopefully your wedding will be gorgeous with a brand new Gazebo.

Yeah the Gazebo had me at hello, everything else, not so much. I've been to like 5 destination weddings and they all tend to be run of the mill. I fell in love with the gazebo and the view. The bonus is you get the ocean without the sand

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
