We have booked booked DLR and are getting married on the 12th. We are going to be using pastor Rick to do our ceremony and are currently evaluating using the Mannia DJ, although he is quite expensive. We have our photographer booked who will be down there for 2 weeks i believe. His name is Phil Steingard and he does wonderful work....if anyone wants some information on his and his pricing, feel free to PM.

Hey !!

I am booked in the Dominican - Punta Cana.. staying at the Majestic ... My wedding day is Jan 29th, 2011!!!!

I have spoken to Phil Steingard and seen his work... he does amazing work! Congrats on booking him!!

I have actually found an equally (in my opinion he's the best! but thats just me... lol) great photographer from my home town to come and shoot my wedding for us for a great deal.... If there are any brides that are getting married between the dates Jan 25 - Feb 8th (approx) (excluding Jan 29th and Jan 27th which he has reserved for other weddings already) that are still looking for an amazing photographer to fit into their budget... mine will be down there between these dates and is willing to book another wedding! If you want more info this is the post to chat in or PM me!

So exciting that your invites are almost out the door!!! We just sent ours last week!!!!! Whew, that was a big task I was happy to have done!

What type of invitations are you doing? Color? DIY (print through Vista then put together?)?

they are very simple. mostly white, with some orange and fuschia (our colours) abstract dot-like design. simple but pretty!

we are just doing the invite card, and a supplement card with travel info and ordering matching envelopes. we are doing an online RSVP. we have made our own website with mywedding.com for people to RSVP to. easy peasy!

thats neat! I love the simple but pretty look!! "less is more" sometimes - I completely agree!

My invitations were actually my fiancees idea!! (And let me tell you he is about as creative as a white wall!!) but when he told me what he was thinking I was in shock and loved it!

We sent out messages in a bottle... so we kept the invite very simple black text (in nice script) on aged parchment paper - rolled up with the rsvp card (same paper) in the bottle... the bottle had sand, seashells, a mini palm tree (plastic) and a little mini drink umbrella in it.. we also put a metallic silver heart charm in there to act as buried treasure..the charm had "LOVE" written on it... we used raffia to tie the message together then slip in in the bottle... and pretty orange ribbon around the neck/cork of the bottle.. it turned out amazing.... not that costly (compared to some other invitations) and it was so much fun putting them together! we had a blast with the sand and the seashells and trying to roll the paper tight enough to fit in the bottles....lol...etc..

I have made a wedding website on theknot.com !! Looks like we totally think alike Pam!!!

I was thinking of only an electronic rsvp - but alot of my family is older and not computer saavy and what not... so we still sent out pre-stamped envelopes and stuff for rsvp's....

  • 2 weeks later...

We are getting married Jan.13/11 at Majestic Colonial. I am also looking to share Phil Steingard for around that time (excluding Jan.12 and Jan.13). Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

As for invitations, we opted out of sending actual paper invites and our Travel Agent actually set up a website (like an e-invite) with an online booking form/resort info/travel details for guests. I either invited people beforehand via Facebook or by phone. So far we have 35 people booked and are expecting about 10 more. We are only sending invites to family/relatives for the formality sake.

For those getting married at Majestic...are you doing a private reception? If so, which location? I was thinking about doing it at the Parrot Bar.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
