Hi Laura!

That's a good question about giving a tip to the WC. I never even thought about that. I leave April 4th to Mexico and wedding is on the 10th....any thoughts?

On the travel agent we did end up booking with a travel agent and she was able to get us about 30% off of the book rates for the rooms and guests booked their own flights. I think it varies so much depending on time of year, etc. Normally I book everything online, but especially the older folks loved having a ta to call/harass!

Hi Bonnie,

Just an FYI - I have an outside photographer (Claudia) and we just booked a room for her. Xhail my WC indicated that as long as they are considered a "guest" they can be there.

hope this helps!

That is what I heard about at both of the resorts (The Barcelo and The Ocean Turquesa), and it tunes out that as long as u book a room for the vendors, they usually let them in. However, I guess I really need to sort this out.

Is anyone having their guests stay at the caribe/beach/etc, while you and your fiance are staying at the Palace?

I asked my WC at the Palace (Victoria) and she said its best that everyone book with the Palace, something about how the Palace has top shelf drinks/etc?

If thats the case, I could just have the wedding/reception at the Caribe or something, and still just have a room at the palace

I am having my wedding at the Palace and booked the photographer at the Beach. I told Claudia and she said it would be fine.

That's correct, the Palace always serves premium drinks. All of our guests are staying at the Palace, but if people aren't picky about what they drink they might be alright with staying at one of the other resorts.

The problem with having guests stay at other places is that they can't access the Palace pool. We ran into the situation that everyone is staying at the Palace but two couples (who don't know each other). This means that everyone will be hanging out at the palace pool but those people. We are now going to have to try to move the group to the beach or another pool making 50 people accomodate 4 people.

Hi everyone! I am back from my wedding, which was on March 20th, and wanted to give everyone my full review! It may be a long one, so brace yourselves! I got so much helpful information from this thread, I thought I would give back. So, if you have any questions, please PM me and I will do my best to get back to you with the answers!

Date: March 20, 2010

Time: 5 p.m.

Number of guests: 35 (including two children ages 1 and cool.gif

Let me first start off by saying that I was SUPER excited to get out of Chicago. The weather was bleh, and I needed to get away and enjoy some sun and some time on the beach! I was all ready to go and was eagerly awaiting my first drink by the water. Apparently, the Cancun airport had other ideas for me....

We left on Tues the 16th and to be honest, I was nervous about taking my dress and my husband's suit down there... We ended up checking two bags (free for the first bag, score!) and then carrying on our wedding clothes and one carry on bag filled with our wedding shoes, my jewelry and wedding essentials I didn't want to take a chance with.

We arrived a little earlier than our scheduled time. We deplaned and then were met by the LONGEST line of all time. My husband and I kept laughing about how the people at the airport must have been surprised, b/c they were NOT equipped to handle one plane going through customs, let alone three. We spent nearly and hour waiting in the line to get our passports stamped. Suck!

After that, we waited to get our bags, and then were greeted by the longest snaking line I've seen in a long time. We were in a line that was curving around multiple baggage checks all to get our bags checked before we left the airport. I had a ton of things that I was putting in our welcome bags and when they asked me about it, I simply replied, "por mi boda" and they smiled and waved me through. Phew! Crisis averted!

We made our way out of the airport and met the Lomas/Funjet travel guides who were taking us to the airport. We were in a van with 10 other people and had to make one stop before we got to Barcelo. If I had to do it all over again, I would arrange for transport directly to the hotel. From what I gathered, from my friends that DID do their transportation that way, the price difference was negligible and they got to the hotel much quicker than we did. I think all in all we arrived in Cancun at 12 p.m. and didn't get to the resort until 3 p.m.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
