I am planning my sister-in-law's wedding in Mexico next year (June 2011) and she has fallen in love with the azul sensatori. I have got bits of information from our TA & from the Karisma website & then stumbled across this forum, I have started from the beginning (!) and only just managed to get to page 100! So I do apologise if these questions have been asked before, but hoping you could help us before we decide to book.

As we are flying from UK there will only be around 10-15 of us so just wondering what options would be available for her reception.

Her ideal would be:

Have the beach setting for ceromony around 4pm ish

Followed by cocktail hour with canope's 5:30 - 6

Followed by a private BBQ with torches on the beach about 6/7pm.

Would all this be possible at the Azul & does anyone know how much it would cost. I have been reading up on the wedding packages available & it says that you get a meal for 40 in the Spoon restaurant included, would she be able to have the BBQ as a substitute for the meal?
Any help or advice or contacts in the hotel would be appreciated.

Thanks ladies & good luck with the planning!

Welcome!!!! This site is awesome and has been a life saver for me. If I had to do it over again, knowing what I know. I would make up a list up of the things I needed in order to the most important to the least then I would email not call (if you call write an email to the person to have them put it in writing). When you call ask about flowers, photographer, music, meals, decorations, bringing your own stuff, and every little detail that may not seem to big of a deal to you but the resort always seem to have an answer not in your favor. From what I have seem all resorts will nickel and dime you in different ways so you need to figure out the most important parts of your day to you. The main reasons I went with AS was b/c it looks amazing, the girls on this thread are awesome, my brother has a time share through Karisma and was able to get 5 rooms very cheap, children under 5 are free and we have a promo that children under 14 are $50.00 plus we get 20% off rates. So when I looked at our immediate families this helped most people.

With all this said, I still almost switched resorts after starting my plans with AS and seeing how they had certain rules and they changed things without letting you know. But once I started researching the other resorts, they all seemed to have pros and cons. AS still out weighted my needs compared to the other resorts by far and I think if I had to do it over, I would pick AS.

I hope this helps and I didn't scare you. Keep asking questions, it helps.

Thanks girls :)

I had a good day....didn't really have a laugh tho as I was on my own so was feeling a bit sorry for myself but she made me feel really comfortable. had about 5/6 different outfits but didn't get round to any topless, nudes or implied nudes.....2 hours just isn't enough time!

photog was raving about how good the pics were and how pleased she was with them so I'm hopeful, but still have that fear of 'what if I'm the only person they don't manage to make look good'??!!! but pics should be up on an online gallery with a password in 2 days.

I'll keep you all posted!!
Can't wait. I am sure you looked amazing.

Hi girls,

Thank you sooooo much for your info so far! I am finding it so frustrating allready! I organise events in the UK for a living & have planned a few of my friends weddings & my own & I am a total control freak! This is the first DW I have orgnised & I can allready see it is going to drive me mad, leaving everything until the last minute!

With regards to the BBQ, if it is minimum of 30 what are the options for a smaller party reception (ie our 12 guests?!) ideally would like somewhere private for speeches etc is there somewhere available & if anyone has a resort map or pics of the areas available please can you email them to me:

Thanks again guys!

You can have dinner at The Spoon. It is semi private, so part of the restaurant is draped off from everything else. You can use that with up to 40 people so anything under 40 is fine. This also included in wedding packages, so it is not an additional cost. I don't have a map, but here is a link with a picture:

Hi girls - more clients in this week! AHH so busy!

Wendy & Katie - I am so proud of your girls! Go on with your bad selves! Can't wait to see a couple teasers wink.gif

Crrista Lee - awesome - good work on kicking your butt into shape! And doing it with future hubby is awesome.

I am not doing any To Dos this week or next - I have my shower the weekend of Easter and am crammed full of stuff (like getting my highlights re-done - lol) until then. After Easter I am doing a 21 day diet I got from Oxygen Magazine and since I wont be going out for drinks, I plan on having a long to do list then wink.gif

Hope you all are keeping sane!

Here is the symbolic ceremony in case you are interested

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
