I'm so frustrated...I spoke with Monica yesterday for the first time (after emails) and I just felt so unsure of things with her. First she forgot about our appointment, called me 10 minutes late, kept telling me she had to check on things and kept putting me on hold. I was so irritated by the end of the call, not to really mention all the pushing they try to do to get you to spend more money. Has anyone else had the same problems?

Monica called us a week early for our appointment. My FI was like, "umm... our appointment is next week." She also tried telling me some things I wanted for my wedding weren't possible even though other brides have done the exact same thing I asked her about.

Wait until you get there to make any decisions. Just make sure you have your basics to take along with you. The paperwork, attire, music, ceremony script, decorations you want, etc.

And at the end of the day... you'll be married and that's what really matters.

Hey girls,

I'm a Beaches T&C bride as well and my wedding is next month!!!!

I've been dealing with Monica and yes, sometimes she can take a long time to respond, etc but like Maureen said, she's dealing with alot of weddings per day and i'm sure she has alot on her plate! For our first meeting, i created a list of questions for her and emailed it to her a week before our phone meeting. Of course, day of the meeting, she told me she didn't get a chance to review the questions and notes. That's ok, because i sat on the phone with her for almost an hour and went through every single detail. After the conversation, she emailed me back my notes with her responses and that was great as i had everything documented. My advice would be to keep following-up with her and be patient.

Also, i didn't find her pushy at all but maybe i knew what i wanted so she didn't really have to "sell" me on anything. She gave me the cost and i went back to do my own cost analysis and then made a decision.

Hope this helps!

Typically I do work through my TA but Monica was the one that emailed me to request the phone call. I understand her busy schedule but working in a customer service related field you need to make sure you are being professional and polite. I think it's polite to know who you are talking to, date of their wedding, and be on time. I had the meeting on my calendar and a 2 page list of questions for her ready to go. As for pushing items, I understand that is their job but once I say no 2 or 3 times, please drop it, ha! I just was venting here but in all honesty if these places want recommendations they need to improve their customer service with the first impression of their WC's in Miami.

I'm just taking a sand cermony set with me for the cermony. Girasole says they told her they will charge you $50 to set up your own if you don't use theirs.

For the 'reception' we're just picking a resturant when we get down there that we want to eat at after the wedding. Paying $75 per person when you're already at an AI is rediculus!

I'm bringing small glass jars with our names, the date and "Turks and Caicos" engraved on them. We're going to fill them with sand from the island. We're considering this the party favor at the reception.

We're also giving our guest welcome bags when they get there. We're having us call them and we'll meet them at their room instead of having the resort drop them off... saves us a couple bucks.

Kendall- Where in PA do you live? I live in Harrisburg. If you want to get together after my wedding, i can give you all the helpful hints you might need :)

Yep, $50 to bring your own kit, we got one that we liked the shape of rather than the one the resort has. I also asked about set up (i.e. placecards, favors, etc) and they told me it would be a flat fee of $250 to do any set up so I just decided to put our favors in with their welcome bags. I don't think anyone will really mind & we are doing a dinner at one of the restaurants like Kelly.

Hello,

I'm getting married at Beaches in Turks and Caicos in July. My dealings with Monica and not been very helpful (thank god for this website and TA Maureen). When talking with monica I don't like the swag that is offered in BB, she told me I would be looking at 175-575 for other options. Needless to say, we will be bringing down real touch flowers in our carry on!!!! As for photographers heard mixed reviews for the on-site ones at beaches and are currently talking to Tropical Images.....Someone had mentioned that sooo we will be able to pick our on photographers. I plan on bringing my own sand ceremony stuff, chair sashes, script, asile runner, music and favors, we will see if they let or should I say how much they charge for us to use our own stuff.

If anyone as any other reccommendations please let me know.

Thanks

Many, many things have changed with the weddings now that Martha Stewart has come onboard. So if someone had a wedding last year or even in January/start of February this year the things that were once allowed are completely different. It is not nearly as flexible as it once was, as MS is very strict about her vision. The Miami WC's have to work within those confines.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
