Laura's Dreams Riviera Cancun Wedding Review

Recommended Posts

Hi Laura,

I was wondering...when you have the reception on the deck, can you dance on the deck or do you still have to pay for a dancefloor to be set up? I was thinking of moving my reception from the beach to the deck so that I could save a little on the cost for the dancefloor...and people would probably be happier not to have to walk in the sand during the reception.

Yes, there is plenty of room for dancing on the deck - it's pretty big! That's what we did! I didn't think there was any need for a dance floor to be set up,.

FI and I are still trying to decide what type of room to get. I see that you had a preferred club oceanview which is definitely one we are considering. I think that's probably the lowest category we are considering, and are wondering if it would be worth it to go higher. What do you think? Originally we were very excited to get a room with a plunge pool but I have heard so many people on the FB fan page say that they are too cold to use, so I guess we are moving away from that idea...

Also, did you get your room upgraded (ya know, cause you were the bride and groom!) or was this the room you booked? I know you were there when it was pretty (if not completely) full, so not sure how much wiggle room there would have been to upgrade you, but just curious.

Great question did your wedding party get any upgrades Laura?

Don't you just just trip advisor? haha just kidding! But I know that all too well reading bad reviews then being blown away by a resort!

Fabulous review. Dreams Riviera looks awesome! Can't wait to see your pictures from Claudia - I know they are going to be amazing! Congratulations & TFS!

The room we got was what we booked. I think it was perfect and didn't feel like we needed anything better! We were #2304 - if you are looking at the resort from the beach, it was the building on the left. Looking from the beach, the front of the building that sticks out are the ocean front rooms. We were the first room in that building after the ocean front rooms. When laying in the bed, we could see the ocean perfectly. We were facing in towards the pools. It was nice being at the end because we only had 1 neighboring balcony. The room was really so nice. We had thought about booking a plunge pool room too. In fact, we did book one and then changed our minds and upgraded. I am glad we did change our minds because one person in our group had a plunge pool and he said that the water in it was freezing! They would probably be nice in the summer when it is really really hot! Oh, and we also did not get the extra room that comes with the ultimate package since the resort was fully booked sad.gif That was a little bit of a disappointment because it would have been nice to have 2 rooms to get ready in.

Nobody in our group got an upgrade...at least I don't think that they did. A few people who booked garden view rooms had rooms right across the hall from us and they had the hot tub on the balcony. The view on that side of the resort though is not that great but they were all happy that they had a great view of the ocean and that they had the nice balconies!

Thank you!! Yeah, and after this whole DW planning thing, I am not so that trip advisor is a good thing, especially for your stress level :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
