Biggest Destination Wedding Stress factor - what's yours?

Recommended Posts

So far my biggest stressor is attire for myself and the wedding party. FI and I decided to purchase attire for party since the have to travel so far....and its killing my budget. What I budgeted for is not what I am finding. :-( So I keep holding out for a sale! :-)

But thanks to BDW I learned of the $99 linen suits! yay!! Now what am I going to do for the women. I guess I'll stroll Macy's and etc. see what I stumble across.

My biggest stress was trying to help book my guests, getting a group rate together, etc....I finally said forget it, and had everyone book on their own and had them call me with their info! Those who said they were coming and then backed out, dont let it bother you. The people who are important in your life will be there!

My biggest stress factor is picking a hotel. Even after I booked the hotel I am still worried and second guessing myself if I picked the right one. I couldnt find a hotel that had everything I wanted, and a good price so i had to pick which factors where the most importent.

I am just so consurned because everything is paying so much to be here.

i totally agree! all my guests asked me to get a group rate. when i finally got one, no one booked by the deadline smile27.gif so i told them to book their own trips and to just send me their itineraries. seems to have worked well for everyone so far.

Guests RSVP'ing and actually booking. Everyone is sooooo last minute whereas I am a planner. I just wanted to go postal some times! I mean you make it so easy for everyone by even putting the return stamp on the reply cards! I could definitely see some people peeling my nice stamp off and mailing off a damn bill instead of the reply card...geez!

My biggest stress factor is trying to stay focused with having a simple, low-key wedding. Sometimes when I start reading threads, it is easy to get caught up in the 'oh, I've got to have: chair sashes, fans, aisle petals, favors for the table, guest book, etc...'

So, I have decided to forgo a few of the items mentioned above. I have to stay focused and remember that I want a simple yet beautiful wedding. I think it is very possible with a ocean backdrop.

Vday, I understand. It is for that reason that I didn't even send RSVP's. I know who booked through the resort. Some folks may intend on coming and may send RSVP's but what really matters is if you put $$ down for a reservation.

i've seen a lot of pics of dresses that the girls buy from victoria's secret. they have perfect beach dresses that are still dressy enough for a wedding. you could definately get them for around $100

oh and j. crew has dresses for weddings too!

My biggest stress is the travel arrangements. We have people coming from several countries and they all want to arrive at different times, or come on the same plane as us. I really wanted to get there before everyone so I could destress a bit. With people booking last minute it is getting hard for me to buy for my OOT bags and such plus arrange for my reception.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
