$1400 for our wedding photos, rip off?

Recommended Posts

Hmmm I paid $3950 for our photographer.

-That was 3 different days of shooting.

-2 flush mount albums with 70 pictures each

-1 album with 20 pictures.

Over 1000 pictures taken.

All of the images on high res cd.

We bought 5 images from our resort photog for $130 and I thought it was a rip off.

They were an extra $5 each or so bc they were "wedding day photos"

Im thinking its an ok deal. And if you are happy, that is all that matters!

I ended up with about 550 photos with 4 hours of shooting. No book, just the CD. We paid like $1300 after tip and tax, etc. If we had paid full price it would have been $400 for the first hour and $300 each additional hour. I feel like we got a really good deal.

Some of us charge $500 per wedding and some $5000+++

If you can see the difference, that extra 4500 may be well worth it. If you can't, $500 is all you need and spending more would be just wasting money.

Same with delivery. There are photographers who deliver 3-5K photos from an 8-hour wedding and I know a few who only provide a maximum of 200 images maximum.

As long as you ask questions in advance before booking, 100,500,2000 images should not come as a surprise.

Cheers,

Dmitri

If the pictures are great, I don't think it is a rip off. Its what you have to remember your day by. I don't think weddings are about getting deals after the fact. We are looking at a photographer who gives upwards of 800 photos but also costs a bit more than what you have. If the pix are good quality then you got what you wanted right?

Hmm. If you went through the resort photoshop the price sounds pretty similar to what we were told at Breezes Runaway Bay. We chose the most basic package and got 30 pictures on a CD, 10 prints from those that were 5x7 and 2 that were 8x10. We paid $380. I asked how much it would cost to get all the pictures the photographer took (like 300 or so) on a CD and the photoshop told me it would be $1500. My husband couldn't even fathom paying this much for electronic files of images so we passed that up. Pictures were important to me, not to him and he's throw a fit when he heard huge numbers like this for photos. I think I've heard other brides on here say they made deals on the side with their photographer for much less money though. So part of me thinks it's ridiculous that anybody would charge that much for pictures but at the same time, it's sorta a once in a lifetime thing and if you both like the pictures and neither are too upset at the cost it's not a rip off. Do they make like 500% profit on it? Sure they do.

Good deal? Bad deal? I'm gonna post a link on my blog with about 20-30 of our favorites to look at.

If you love the pictures and are happy, then it's a great deal. if you wanted more pictures or thought you were getting more, then it's not. I looked on your blog but didn't see your pictures.

I am paying a LOT more than that, but will be getting a lot more - Pictures are very important to me and I did a ton of research on photographers in Jamaica before I chose one.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
