April 2010 Brides

Meghan- enjoy your rockin party this weekend. Sounds awesome!!! Sorry to hear about the mega frustrations. Yuck. I'd want the girl out of my wedding party too! Sucks for her that her husband is lame and needs a stripper to get him excited bc his wife doesn't. It's in the past, move forward with love for you and your man, EVERYTHING else is just details, and don't deserve to bring you down wink.gif

Ugh- Meghan I'm so sorry about the way things went down. They put your FI in a tough spot too- he can't really make too much fuss or he looks like a jerk in front of them. That is not cool. I'm okay with strippers on stage at a strip club but I draw the line at lap dances- that is not okay. Too close for comfort. Don't even get me started on hiring a private stripper, either- that's too sleazy.

I'm so sorry that one of the girls in your wedding party did that, and that they all disrespected your boundaries (and your FI's). That is so rude, I have no words. I'd be livid, too, if it's any help.

On a plus note, your bachelorette sounds like so much fun- especially the roller skating in seventies clothes! I'm so jealous- I hope you girls have a blast.

Ugh, sorry I guess that was a confusing comment!!

I KNOW about the Bachelorette party this weekend!!and I'm going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YAY YAY and YAY! and DID NOT know about the stripper...but we have talked about it just not on this forum, so it's not like I haven't commented on it!! My beliefs are pretty much the same as everyone else...it would have been murder!!!!!!!!!! Mel, so true with the difference between a stage and a personal one at home!

wow did I miss a LOT in such a short time!!! I missed you guys and so much has happened here, huh?

So now I am SO HAPPY we are not having bachelor/bachelorette parties, although paintball and rollerskating would probably be awesome for me...it's sad when someone has to try and mess with your happiness Meghan, but I agree with the other girls that something is lacking in his life that he wanted to get a stripper for your FI...it sounds like you guys have a strong relationship so it isn't an issue, and sometimes you realize who your real friends are at times like these. Sad but true.

it is really getting down to the final countdown - I'm still waiting for orders to come in of my (free) tshirts...ok i paid for some of them from vistaprint...they were 80% off...I actually woke up in a panic last night about it....i've been so calm till now, but with the new job and getting"final information" emails from the WC I think it's starting to set in for me.

I have no list written down - it would probably be helpful to do that...I just have things running through my mind when I'm trying to sleep - FI went in the other room last night....I think we're sleeping separately till the wedding nowcrybaby2.gif because I'm tossing and turning so much.

I have my first fitting on Thursday - hopefully it will be ok - I know it will have to be taken in.

i'm really glad I got this job but starting a job right before the wedding might not have been the best idea!

Anyone else panicking?

Or is it just me?

Tracy, did you make brochures or postcards from Vistaprint?

Meg - I would be livid if that were to happen to my FI and you have every right to be completely upset with the whole group! The boys for knowingly crossing the line and not caring and the "friend" who abnoxously left you in the dark, and FI (just a little) for allowing it to happen while he was there. Yes, he came straight home and told you, but it could have been stopped before the lap dance (I run my house like a tight ship, lol)...

Yes, I already have a veil, so borrowing one is out of the question. I'm usually pretty bad about borrowing things from my mom and I'm sure she'll have something that I'll want to use for the wedding.

Meghan, your bachelorette sounds like so much fun. Sorry to hear about all of the drama with your FI's bachelor party. Just put all of that out of your mind this weekend and have a blast at your party girl!

Michelle, I am panicking too. I have a list written down, but somehow, I keep adding more stuff to it. My FI says I am going above and beyond what most people would do. Like the OOT Bags, paying for a charter bus for the wedding, our website, making the invitations, etc. He says the more I come on this message board, the more stuff I find to do for the wedding. I just want to make sure everyone has a good time though. I toss and turn most of the night too. But, I think most brides go through this.

You girls are so incredibly wonderful for all the support!! Mel & jenna I think you girls had it bang on with your comments and it's all so true. This has been one of the hugest emotional roller coasters ever and I know that's putting a big strain on FI and I. He just doesn't get how one minute I'm screaming and crying and freaking out, then a while later I'm calm and laughing. I don't understand either but I think my brain and body can only process so much at a time so it comes in waves.

I talked to my BM last night and for as much as I can believe her, it sounds like while she knew they were planning something, she didn't know exactly what. She also hadn't realized that I'd specifically told them guys not to get FI a lap dance so she could see why I was so upset that they had. These kind of things don't bother her so she never even considered they would bother me, and at the least she apologized for not having been more considerate of my feelings, being both my friend and bridesmaid she should have known better. It's about all I can ask from her right now so at least I have one small battle to move on from.

FI said yesterday that he would handle the guys and make sure they knew they had crossed a line but when I asked him after the gym (and I kind of knew this was coming) about the conversation he had with one of the guys, it blew up in my face a bit because he didn't say as much as I thought he would have and thought I was prying and digging more than I needed to be. It also doesn't help that this friend thought I confessed all the details to HIS girlfriend - which I most definitely did not - and she was getting suspicious and getting him in trouble when he wasn't before. His gf knew I was upset yesterday and I simply told her that I was having troubles dealing with some things from the weekend but that they were my issues involving FI to deal with and if she wasn't concerned before then she didn't need to be now. I'm not the girl who goes and blows the whistle to all the other girls in a situation like this.

Finally last night I wrote an email to the guys who I felt were mostly responsible for all of this and word for word explained the things I was upset about and why it hurt me so much for them to do what they did. So now all I can do is wait and see how they react to it and move on from there. Hopefully I get some resolution out of this soon.

And YES!!!!!!!!! Suzy is coming to my bachelorette party and it is going to ROCK!! We've got about 10-12 girls lined up now I think and now its just hoping that the weather holds out for us during the day for paint ball! Maybe getting right drunk and puking all day Sunday will help me purge all this stress from my system :)

meghan, i have my fingers and toes crossed that all of this can pass and you can enjoy your day without the crappy guys and semi-crappy BM messing it up. hopefully they will understand that you feel let down by what they did, but then again, they're guys and how often do they actually understand female feelings? :) make sure you don't let this get in the way of your VERY fun bach party this weekend!

michele, you are not alone. not one bit. we got our marriage license yesterday and that freaked me out a little, and then last night i was talking to my FSIL and J's parents about the trip and it suddenly seemed real. a VERY strange feeling and it freaked me out for a bit!!

okay april ladies, i need your help! we're planning our AHR right now (wedding stage 4 as i call it) and we're having a family friend take pictures (she's also a pro photog). i really want to do a guestbook with the whiteboard pictures... don't know if you've seen it but it's where people write messages on whtie boards and take a picture with it. WELL, the photog doesn't think it's a good idea for her to get chased down every time a picture is going to get taken. i want all of the pictures on one camera, and i worry about leaving one there for people to use. anyone have an idea on how to remedy this? if it takes too much thought i may just pass on the idea, but for now i'm still trying to figure it out!!

My friend just had her guest book person at the door with a camera (mature friend) and took pics of everyone. Might not be as good of quality as your photographer but would do the trick.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
