ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

LadyDi-

great question! I look at all those videos from other brides and all the guests are walking to the wedding ceremony at the same time and it looks planned like they met somewhere first. That might be a good idea, like the lobby or something

I was told that non resort guests don't have to pay to go to the ceremony and reception. I even have it in the email that Kimberly sent last year so I defintelu will be bringing that with me to the resort.

Definitely put that on the top of your pile lol Wish I would have gotten that e-mail. Unfortunately I was told if they stay anywhere besides the Royal, Gran and Real I would have to pay sad.gif

Whats everyone doing for the music for the private reception? I'm not sure if to go with the dj the hotel offers or if I should put some play lists together and do the music ourselves. I'm worried if I don't get the dj I'm going to be constantly worried if the music is good and who will announce the first dance etc.

I definitely wish I could have gotten that e-mail. I can't blame our guests for staying off site, because they have a timeshare that they are using. They even offered to pay the fees for offsite guests, but I doubt I will let them. Also, I'm using a playlist. To be honest we listen to the typical wedding music down here so I'm thinking it won't be that hard to put together and I have a friend who is a dj who's helping me. I think the resort DJ prices are a bit high and we are pretty simple.

Oh and our wedding is at 2 pm on a Friday so it's definitely not the weekend charge after 4. She said it covered the charge of the gazebo, tables chairs, linens, lighting, set up, etc.
I was on the Royal wedding website the other day and saw this fee noted - you can check yourself but it says that Friday is considered the weekend, basically...it's in small print aalllll the way down the bottom of the page.

We are doing the resort DJ (Dorremix) - I don't want to have to worry about the music and, to me, it's one of the most important parts of the wedding (reception). Plus, everyone says he's great!

Hi all - this forum is really helpful, wish i had come across it earlier. What is everyone doing for the ceremony, music-wise? I saw the lux package comes with a solo musician - harpist, guitarist, violinist, or something else...any ideas for what is best? Also, does anyone know the cost of upgrading the cocktail to include hot apps?

I am looking at this resort. I went to the Gran in 2004 with my mom, and we were very pleased with the hotel and experience. So far...There is a few huh.gif on the Royal:

CONS

1) they seems to charge u here and there...left and right

2) Hotel can be full very fast, and then u have to pay extra for the day pass

3) does the luxury (the one at $3800, includes the judge?) and can we remove the photographer/video from it?

4) Extra External Vendor fee to be added on top?

5) very bad communication with WC (it is not only at Royal...same thing with brides dealing with Barcelo...it is like talking to a wall)

PROS

1) very nice location, next to PDC, so no need to take $10-$30 cab to get to a town, super convenient for Bachelor party or girls' night out! or get extra supplies.

2) people with kids and limited budget can stay at the Gran, so no need to be stuck in a kids "friendly" hotel or force people to pay extra $200-$500 per week to stay at the Royal.

3) Starbucks in PDC for Starbucks addicts

Hi Ladies,

Can anyone tell me how to figure out what dates are available and how to a date? I really want to have our wedding at the Royal PDC, but I can't figure it out on their website. Do you really have to select the exact package, flowers, etc all at once? I'm so confused.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
