And I hear ya on the prices.. I feel like some of it is just crazy, but we have NO choice. I mean, a $300 dollar an hour DJ.. yikes! I need to move to Mexico and become a DJ, haha!
Thanks Ashlynn. I guess I just see all these beautiful bright colours and wonder if I made the right choice. But I'm always second guessing myself and if I tried to pick something different I'd still question it...lol

$300 an hour for a DJ?? Wow is he spinning gold for you at the same time? That is crazy. We decided to go the ipod route and just pay for the system. They wanted $250 just for that and speakers but I managed to get them down to $150. While music is important to us we had to keep our budget in check someway. But we aren't having a reception at the resort either, only a cocktail party on the beach after the ceremony. I'm sure we can manage the music for 2 hours :)

FH and I stayed there during our last trip to Mexico and it was beautiful. We went when they hadn't even been open a year yet and I was surprised at how great the resort was. We upgraded to the Platinum and it was sooo worth it. We saw a few weddings take place and they did a great job. We also met with the wedding coordinator just to talk about their packages and she was so helpful. I hope she's still there and you get to work with her. My only suggestion is to bring bug spray. They have a lagoon near the beach and we got bites everytime we went for dinner. I saw this poor girl whose whole back was covered in bites. All I thought was "ohh I hope she's not getting married!". Looking forward to hearing about your planning.

Thanx that makes me feel better about our decision. We did a lot of research and this seemed to be the nicest and most affordable place. We have never been to Mexico so are taking a gamble, but have faith everything will turn out. Right now i am going crazy over the color scheme. I love the tropical colors. Trying to incorporate the bird of paradise. So thinking purple/orange/green. not sure if that will be okay. what u think? i like fuschia too. is four colors too many?? also trying to decide if i have bridesmaids should they wear all the same color or different colors? any input would be appreciated =)

I think you made a great decision. The only reason we didn't end up getting married there was because we wanted an adults only resort. Our biggest complaint with GRP was that we paid a lot to upgrade to the Platinum because of the extra amenities which included a small private pool. Well there was a group of families staying there as well and they seemed to think it was appropriate for their kids to take up the whole pool instead of going to one of the bigger pools with kids. That is obviously not the resorts fault but just some inconsiderate people. We didn't want to deal with that again so thats why we went with EDR.

I love all those colours. I think as long as they all coordinate with each other having all 4 wouldn't be so bad. You could also make 2 your main choices and have accents with the others if you wanted to tone it down? How many bridesmaids are you having? If you say had 3 then pick 3 of those colours and put them each in a colour. I love bridal parties that are unique. They don't have to be matchy just coordinated with each other.

You will be alright crystal =) but you should start looking at the resorts now and make a decision soon, especially if u want a november date. I reserved my date about 3 weeks ago now for november 6th. i don't think you can really go wrong with most of the hotels down there at least around the riviera maya area from what i've heard. We chose the grand Rivieria princess but i also hear the grand palladium is nice and aventura spa. also i don't think you could go wrong with any of the dreams or secret resorts. do some research on these and any other u may be interested in and then check out the forums on here about those resorts. it makes your decision so much easier after seeing the comments past brides on here have made =) enjoy your planning and let us know what u choose.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
