Hello,

Does anyone know if in Mexico (my wedding is at Dreams Tulum) people know about the seriousness of a peanut allergy ?

Yes, I will have about 4 epipens + a few bottles of benadryl for my 2 children (both are severly allergic... even to the touch they react!).

This allergy is quite commun now in the States + Canada, but how is it in Mexico?

I will be bringing lots of deserts for them but are the labels there as precise as here (every ingredients are written + "may contain peanuts" warning) .

My FI is allergic to Shellfish (yeah not so great when we travel coastal!), we always contact the resorts in advance and then bring a letter with us (translated into their language) and show the restaurant manager / waiter to show the chefs. they really appreciate this and we don't have to make a scene or try to translate about something so serious with mistakes!

I don't have any specific suggestions but I wanted to let you know that my niece also has a severe peanut allergy. She has been to both Cuba and the Dominican Republic several times and the resorts have been accomadating and understood when we mentioned her allergy. She eats in both a la cartes and buffets and she has not had a reaction.

yes I did read about that ! Great news if Kraft can start to make it !!! About 4 years ago I went to a seminar at McGill University and the doctor said that they figured that out a few years ago (produce a plant without the peanut proteen (that is what people are allergic too) but she said it would take a while before someone would actually produce them (more $$$$$ than the actual peanut plant). But yeah ! It's been more than 4 years and someone must of realized that since so many Americans + Canadians are allergic to peanuts, they should do it (and will probably get their $ back with all the sales now that most school band peanuts)smile159.gif

I just got a reply today from Dreams Tulum resort. I've always had quick replies with everyone that I wrote too so far (God knows how many e-mails Sandra WC got from me!!!!)

He said that I am not the 1st to go to the hotel with that type of allergy and once I will arrive there, he will give me a letter writen in spanish explaining the situation, for us to give each time we go to a restaurant.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
