This may sound like a dumb question, but I tried on wedding dresses for the first time yesterday, and the dress I fell in love with is made out of taffeta, and my mom was taking pics of the dresses - the dress looks really shiny in pics - and I don't know if this is just because of her camera. Has anyone else had a dress made out of this material and how did the professional pics come out? I don't want it to look cheap.

I was surprised when we went to look for bridesmaids dresses that my girls picked out iridescent taffeta. It's a little weird b/c it is so shiny. A lot of the colors it comes in I think look weird, but white would be fine. I wanted light green dresses for the BMs, but ended up going with dark pink b/c of the material. Post a pic of the dress so we can see how it looks.

My dress is taffeta, but I haven't gotten married yet and I don't have the dress yet. The dress I tried in the store was a bronze color and it had more of a matte look to it and sort of iridescent, but I ordered it in white. I'll let you know once it comes in. I've seen white taffeta and it didn't look shiny, but it may depend on the dress too, I hope its not shiny!

My favorite Maggie Sottero is Taffeta. I ended up not getting it because I found something else that I loved even cheaper, but I do recall how light weight it was... the second time I tried it on, I realized the material almost felt like a shower curtain...if you ran your finger across it, it made a noise.

I still loved the dress and how it looked, but thought it felt odd... There was another taffeta that you could get it in, empress or something like that, but I wasn't able to see that fabric in person and I believe it was more expensive.

There is a sheen to the dress, but maybe a photographer can chime in...

I actually ended up buying a different dress off of e-bay, but I LOVE this dress.. I was a size 12 at the time I tried it on and with the corset, felt/looked like a 6..

is it bad that I still think about this dress after getting a different one? lol

sorry for the hijack!

Angela, I did the same thing, and thats why I ended up going back and buying the MS dress I wanted, so I have to sell my ebay one.

I don't mind some sheen in my pics, I just don't want it to be extremely shiny!!!

here's mine, but I ordered it in white, its rhapsody taffeta

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
