Phylicia e-mailed me four photos of Poseidon, a bit more detailed that I have been ableto find. I am having trouble attaching the photos but you can e-mail me and I would be happy to send them if you would like. The brochure mentions having a set menu- not sure if they mean the same entree to- you may want to look into that.

The 2010 rates for the ceremony state" The price quoted includes service for a maximum 8 persons, including bride and groom. A per person charge of US$20.00 applies thereafter." Does this imply for additional people to be at the ceremony there will be a per person charge? Has anyone discussed this content with the WC?

The per person charge is for anyone attending the wedding festivities. I believe it covers the Champagne toast, addition cake, chairs with covers for the ceremony, etc. Usually, the guest list for the ceremony and reception are the same.

Hello,

I haven't been on here in a while, but just saw a lot of people asking questions so I thought I'd respond.

First off, everything at the GP is absolutely wonderful! We had a group of 70 people with us in July and they are still raving about the place, food, and service.

They allowed me to do a Welcome dinner at the Poseidon Cove the night before the wedding. The poseidon cove is beautiful, we got great pictures on the water and there is a bar in the restaurant which everyone enjoyed. I've heard that if the Blue Lagoon is booked, then they will make an exception and let you have music there. One of the best things we did was make up our own playlists and gave it to the WC a couple weeks before. She gave it to the DJ so he played all of the songs I wanted!

I choose to do the wedding on the beach, which was absolutely beautiful.

If you are looking for an alternate restaurant to the Poseidon, I would recommend the Pastafarian restaurant. It is on the lower level of the "clover leaf" right next to the Blue Lagoon and overlooking the pool. They will not do a private dinner there, but will have a wedding party with the other guests. I thought their food was the best out of any of the a la cartes! Bubba's is an indoor restaurant, they do have a smaller room off to the side that you can request, but this would prob only fit about 15 people. They arranged that for us our first night when we only had a few guests!

Lastly, be persistent with this resort. They are wonderful, but will often tell you "no" the first time. Keep all of your emails and bring them with you when you go to the resort.

** if you are looking for a good photographer, Stacey Clarke was amazing!

If you wish, you can check out my pictures on Facebook if you add me as a friend.

Jaclyn Ross- Phillips.

Great information, thanks for sharing with us soon to-be brides!
One question: For the Welcome dinner at the Poseidon Cove did you have to pay extra for that? And if so, do you recall if it was a per person charge or just a charge to use the space? I am expecting the same about of guests you had at your wedding.

Oh I also sent you a friend request on FB!

Yes! Thank you for asking!
She just took "island time" to do so.

I sent her pictures of the bouquets I like and the price i was looking to pay and she said she could work with me.

I only need a bouqet and a bout - I'm not doing any extra flowers.

No, there was no additional charge for the welcome dinner. Although, they did say it was not something they usually do.

Be firm and persistent when you are asking, and tell them you are bringing 70+ people to the resort. You are really not getting anything above and beyond they are just letting you all eat in the same place. The only stipulation was that it had to be a set menu with 2 choices (we got a chicken and a shrimp). We took up the entire poseidon cove which was nice!!

I would definitely request this. Our guests had a really great time mingling with each other, then we all went upstairs (from the blue lagoon) to the lounge where there was a live band and danced all night!

Just an FYI ladies - i just booked all my hair and makeup stuff online for Renova Spa - they wanted to charge my girlfriend $101 USD to do her hair...my mom's shampoo and blowout is only $60. since she is not my bridesmaid and just thought it would be fun to get it done, she has opted out of that - kind of pricey if you ask me.

Which tia floral did you request prices from? I suggested that it would sure be nice if the Grand Palladium updated their flower choices to something more modern. wink.gif I'd like to contact them myself too and see what we can work out. Just want to make sure I'm talking to the shop that they deal with.

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
