So I have a question....might be a dumb one. When it comes to "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue" Do I go out and do that for my self? It's not that I have a problem doing it, it's just that I don't want to if my Mom or wedding party will as well? I don't wanna ask, cause I think it seems rude!

It's not something i was really thinking about but for me it's kind of coming together:
My something old is my necklace - it was my grandmother's.
my something new is my dress/shoes/veil
my something borrowed is going to be earrings and a bracelet from a friend
my something blue will be my toenails!

lol, you totally deserve the extra days, especially for living up there!!

aww, poor you that's going to be a huge trip, at least the end result will be well worth it

I think I just got one of the Vistaprint emails with brochures on sale. Have you signed up for there emails? It's worth it, I just wait until what I want goes on sale and then go through the email link.

Perfect, I'll go check it out, thanks!!

I stop getting the e-mails I was spending to much lol

I just put up a thread for my brochures in the DIY forum last week- here they are if you're looking for any ideas:

I love your brochure so much!!!! I especially love what you did with the map. I can't do that sad.gif my resortis 4 put together (way to big)

Great job!!!

That's so true, that's amazing...you both know how you are as a parent.

minus the mother, lucky you guys!! :)

tracy, absolutely gorgeous. seriously. if i could look half that tan and fabulous for the wedding i'd be beyond ecstatic!

aww thanks so much, I went tanning in the beds for a coupe of sessions before going, maybe you could too! Either way your going to look freaking fantastic on your wedding day, I'm looking foward to seeing your pics!!!

speaking of the shower... i just checked our registries and people have bought things! i'm so excited! i'm rationalizing it because everyone keeps saying you need to make sure that the small dollar stuff doesn't all get bought up and the people who wait till the last minute aren't left with just expensive things.

That's great!! Like Meghan said, it's like Christmas all over again. When is you shower?

How in heavan's earth did you decide your registry list, and the range of prices?

i also made up our AHR invites this weekend too. i have never used zazzle before, but it was the only site i could find that would let me just do a plain black background and use my pictures in any configuration i wanted! they'll be pretty inexpensive too i think.. around $1 each for 4'' * 8'' color printed on both sides!

I can't wait to see them!! I am sure they turned out amazing.

lol me too!!! it's taking me forever to catch up!!

Hehe I couldn't agree more! FI keeps saying he'd have gone insane by now if we were doing something locally, considering I apparently drive him crazy already!

aww,our FI's are the same boat, mine just last night told me I'm driving him nuts, but he loves me were his exact words. lol

Men, I'd like to see them plan the wedding.

So no in town celebration for you?

And Tracy - there is a big sale on with vistaprint right now until March 18. If they don't have the brochures listed on their website, PM your email addy to me again and I will forward it on to you!

[/color]

Thanks so much, I'm going to take a look, but I'm still waiting on people to book their trip so I still have to wait, but if they don't book by March 18, well then. I'll go ahead and order the brochures with the people's names on there who have booked their trip.

I'm still waiting to do some DIY projects because a lot still haven't booked. WHat are they waiting for!!

Any one else having this problem, or is everyone in your group booked?

I pretty much did the same thing, telling everyone I didn't want/need a shower. But I'm such a loser because I had so many people around me suggesting that people in the office would throw me a shower (okay it was mostly ppl or companies who wanted me to register with them!) and now I sometimes wonder secretly if anyone here really is planning something for me, even though our group isn't really like that... you know? hehe give me one surprise birthday and now I wonder if everyone is conspiring! LOL!

ohh I am sure they have something planned for you, one you least expect it, probably more last minture kind of thing!!

Exciting, keeping you on your toes! lol

For me, time isn't quite flying, but it's starting to feel like it's actually passing by and not sitting stagnant. Because I'm waiting on a few more orders (mugs, bags, guys pants, wedding party flip flops) and they all take a few weeks to come in, I find that the time seems to go by in bigger chunks.

Really?!?! Time is flying so much for me, especially dealing with our travel agent and the whole room thing, Oh and our flight has been cancel and no one will give me answers!! so annoyig.

I'm wondering if this is some sort of sign!

But now I worry that I'm going to run out of time quicker than I can get everything done! LOL! Yep, starting to be a mess!!

Probably feels that way, but you'll pull through and have everything done in plenty of time!!

something old (my mom will give me somthing)

something new is my earrings and braclet

Something borrowed I will include that in what my mom gives me.

hah!! tracy, i started going to the tanning bed once a week so the first exposure my skin has to the sun isn't in the caribbean. 8 freaking minutes later and i'm burnt!! lesson learned! i didn't burn at 6 min last week so i should have just kept it at that! i don't tan either.. my freckles just get bigger :)

for the registry, we just kind of made it all up as we went. just made sure we picked out things that were smaller and not as expensive, but then a few big things too. we don't need a whole lot, so it was basically all stuff that we wouldn't normally buy for ourselves, but would be fun to have!

here are my 4 things too:

something old - my mom's garter

something new - my dress

something borrowed - i'm next in line for one of the BDW travelling bouquet starfish

something blue - bridesmaids are signing the bottom of my wedding sandals in blue marker

LOL, you should have come talk to me for the tanning before going, I've burnt myself 1 time way to bad (lobster burned) so I've learned my lesson. Always start yourself off with 5 mins, and work your self up to 7 then 10, and then just stick to 10 mins everytime.
But my bikini lines were white, I did two 10 min session and I can say my butt is/was burnt lol.

I love it!!! especially the blue marker idea!!!

Ah, that's a great way to do the registy, I'll do tha exact same whenever the tim comes to make one. Thanks!

I was trying to figure out how that works because last time I thought they had a free upload, it wouldn't let me combine with a free item. I'd love if you could email the template to me!

I'll email you that template no problem- just PM me your email address. I didn't get charged an upload fee with Vistaprint when I did them, either- maybe it depends on the sale? I only paid for shipping and they came pretty quickly. I love the way Vistaprint printed them- it was so much nicer than if I'd tried to do it myself. Publisher is awesome for this kind of thing- I find it really user-friendly.

I have told everyone I don't want one - don't need one - don't think I'll be getting one, and being in between jobs, I won't get a work one either. Between the wedding and the AHR i don't want people to do anything else for me.

Does time seem to be going by very quickly for you guys? It's FLYING for me!
I did this too- don't really need a shower at all, plus my family is pretty far away and it wouldn't feel right without them. The only thing I wouldn't have minded registering for is nice crystal and china, but there really isn't anything else we need.

Lol- I get some freckles, too, but mostly I just stay pretty pale. You can probably tell from my pic- but I am really pallid. I may try a bit of tanning before we go but I'll still have to cover myself in SPF one million or something the whole time we're down there.

No such thing as a dumb question! I'm not sure if I'll bother with this one- I can't think of anything old. I think you do this yourself but recruit other people to help if you need it- does this sound right? I don't know for sure.

hehe I have to giggle with you girls and your tanning minutes. I start closer to 14 minutes and work up to 20 minutes, which is usually the max they let you go in for. My dad and I can both look really pale sometimes but we still have skin that tans easily and doesn't burn often. Even if I go pink one day, it's pretty much gone the next! When I was a kid, I would spend so much time outside in the summer that I'd still be tanned by christmas and people would think I'd been somewhere tropical on vacation over the holidays! And that was my family even who thought that! Last time I went to mexico I didn't even wear sunblock most of the week and still didn't burn :) I'm so going to have bad skin when I get older from all this sun!!

you have every right to laugh at us, 14 mins at up!!! whoa!!! lol 1 year for the first time of the year, i went in for 15 mins (the girl said, are you sure, I said yup) came out like a lobster, so I don't do more then 15 mins when I'm am dark.
Your so lucky, I could never be down south and not wear sun screen and not burn. FI is bad.. he barely can be in the sun, so he can relate to you girls he has the Novia Scotia skin lol wink.gif I am in the sun all done long. Like you Meghan have been in the sun all day all my life I was a huge swimmer, and did cheerleading.
At least wear a 15-20 SPF sun screen (not sun block) to protect you from the harmful UV rays(they are so much more worse then when we were kids). We don't want you having skin cancer.
Like you would never wear sun tan lotion, last year my mom got skin cancer so I always wear it now. So should you girls, pls!!!

Oh my Gosh, I didn't even this of the "Somethings"....

so let's see what I have so far....

something old: have to say undies right now, lol but I should probably convert those to new for my wedding day! ugh more things to buy!

something new: dress

something borrowed: ring pillow, but I guess I'll have to find something to wear on me?

something blue: it's going to be in the jewelry, cause I don't think I'm wearing a garter...but toe nails, I like that idea Michele!!

And Meghan I'm with you on the tanning, I was exactly the same growing up, although you wouldn't know it now, I'm so pale I have a green tinge, blessed olive complexion!

But two tanning sessions and I've been down south, and lost 10 pounds! lol I love how a good tan can make you look thinner!! haha I better start tanning now! I may look 40 pounds lighter by the time April comes around! I am the true sun worshiper, and yes I know it is bad, very very bad.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
