oh yeah, the deposit... nat is really the only one who i think had a deposit taken out. they told most of us that it would be applied to our final bill. as long as you have a confirmation email with a # and your date and time, you will be good to go!

Hi Christine and welcome to the forum, you will love it and find so many helpful things on here. The dress you attached is beautiful. The reosrt has not taken my payment either and I booked over 9 months ago, they say they charge you when you get there. I do have conformation and good track record for my wedding date.

I wouldn't worry too much, I think it all depends on your personal preference alot of us chose a destination wedding so it would be less stressful, more cost effective, and the wedding we've always wanted. for me personally I am bringing down a few things because I want it personalized with my own touch and the resort doesn't offer some of things I want or the color scheme I have in addition to it being cheaper to bring dwon what I want as oppose to paying the resort for the same things.

A friend of mine got married in Aruba and all she brought was her programs, menu cards, and some favors and the resort did the rest and her wedding was beautiful. So I think its just depends on the bride. don't stress over it, the forum will have you creating and doing a whole lot of DIY projects and adding things that you may not have thought of. So it can be overwhelming at first but stick to what you feel comfortable with. We are all here to help and support each other.

Regarding the decorations, I didn't think at alllllll if anything was includeddd!!!!! I guess I got so excited about decorating, centerpieces and things like that so I simply started thinking what to bring.... Any other brides here know if anything is included or not....

Hey Eliana, there are some decorations included in the packages but they didn't fit my overalll look so thats why I am opting for the free package and bringing my own decor. I have seen pictures of weddings at DPC with there decor and it still look beautiful.

Oh Yes you are right!

I'm also doing the same thing as you. Honeymoon suite for 7 nights and the free package. Do you think we will be able to change the bride's bouquet for something else if we bring our own real touch bouquet?

You ladies are awesome!! I'm so glad I stumbled on this website :-)

Cranford isn't too far from me!! I live in Lyndhurst, but work in NY, so I'm open for going anywhere. I heard about a place called Bridal Garden in the city that onyl has designer dresses and all money collected for them (I'm guessing it's not really ALL) goes to a children's charity. I might check them out. I have an appointment at Jefre Bridals in Greenbrook this Saturday, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that I find something. I know time is running out. My mistake of going to David's Bridal taught me one thing...I don't have as much time as I THINK I do...

I really do love that dress, but as I'm sure you've all come to realize, things don't always look as good on as they do off...soooo, I was hoping to at least find it somewhere. I will be traveling to Chicago next weekend, so I might call around to shops there too.

What do you guys think about dress color? I don't think white will look very good on me, but my better half will be wearing an AX white shirt and white pants...think a cream or ivory color will clash? I LOVE the pics posted by one the ladies on this board who was wearing an ivory dress and her husband was wearing a white shirt and khaki pants. It made it look really romantic in the photos...

You guys really bring up a great point about going with the free package (we'll be in the Honeymoon Suite for 9 days, 8 nights) and just paying for the additional things we'd like. I'll have to sit down with a calculator to see if it works out better for us that way or not...The one thing I really want is great photos and a video. I always poo-pooed videos, but after seeing the ones from our wedding ceremony at my grandfather's house and listening to all the toasts and sniffles, I treasure them more than any photo.

Good to know about the deposits too!! I've been dealing with Sharron, and I've actually had quite a bit of luck talking to her on the phone, so if anyone has any questions, I can always call and ask her! Now that you ladies have opened my eyes to so many things, she's going to get a headache with all the questions I ask her...

christine - my one recommendation is that you ask your questions here first, and if we can't answer it, then go to a WC. you'll get a much easier response that way, and it doesn't bog them down as much either! you're actually the first person i've heard of that has gotten through on the phone!

my dress is an ivory/champagne color, but i think it's all about what looks good on you and what you feel comfortable in! let us know how the shopping goes!! we all LOOOOVE pictures!!

speaking of which... if i get my butt in gear tomorrow i'll post my finished centerpieces! tomorrow morning is court to find out if J's daughter can come to the wedding... we're not too hopefull, but feel free to send good thoughts in our direction tomorrow!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
