Hi SnoopyNut - Sorry, I haven't been getting the post updates, so I just saw this now. We got married at my in-laws' house in Skyline Drive...it's 3-4 houses East of the Observatory Deck (popular tourist stop with the vendors and donkey...) that overlooks Charlotte Amalie harbor. :) Where are you getting married?

Mandie,

If you have any questions, let me know. I live in St. Thomas and had over 60 guests fly down from the states for my wedding this past summer. Duffy's would be a fun option. The Greenhouse may be another option for a pre-wedding dinner for everyone. Have you thought about having a dinner catered at your hotel. That's what we did for a rehearsal dinner. It ended up being cheaper than paying for taxis for everyone plus their dinner. Linquist Beach is on the East End and the best beach on the island.

I know Skyline Drive. We are getting married at Magens Bay (Fiance's favorite beach from his childhood....he was raised on St Thomas) and then will be having our reception at the villa we are renting on Flag Hill that overlooks the harbour and city.

Virgin Island Girl -- my daughter is looking at Limetree as a wedding location because there is some shade on the lawn part of the site. But I have heard some not so good things about the iguanas and feral cats there. One poster mentioned that their poop is everywhere and they are big enough to spook some guests. Do you have any thoughts on this? She is also thinking about Lindquist and Magen's Bay.

Kate,

I'm getting married at Lindquist. There's pros and cons of both Lindquist and Magen's. Magen's is pretty and has bathroom facilities, etc., for guests but tends to get very busy(especially on heavy cruise days). Lindquist is more secluded, no bathrooms, but a lot less people.

Does she have a coordinator? I think there are probably shaded areas on both beaches. I know Magen's has those two big palm trees a lot of people get married between. Also if she had a late morning ceremony (like 10:30) she wouldn't have to worry too much about the sun.

Thanks for the information. My daughter really wanted to get married at Limetree but I have heard (haven't checked yet) that Carnival has a beach party there on Tuesday, and so that isn't a good day to get married on Limetree.

I think she will end up going with Lindquist, but she hasn't started working with a coordinator yet and doesn't know when she will be getting married. Since the ship doesn't dock until 10:00 a.m. and she wants to have hair and makeup done before the wedding, I think it will proably be sometime in mid-afternoon (when it's really hot).

As you said, she wants to avoid the cruise crowds at Magen's Bay, although that is a beautiful beach.

I have not heard great things about Limetree for a wedding either. I have heard stories of the iguanas faling into wedding cakes. Also there is a kind of crappy beach bar there which could be open or closed during the wedding. When I say open, I mean for the time share resort guests, i.e. not just the wedding party and wedding guests. There is also a pool there which has parties and can have pretty loud music at times. Personally, I think Lindquist is the best and most beautiful beach on the island. It is truly gorgeous. Magen's is nice too but it's very touristy and can be loud with parties on the weekends. If you're using a good photographer, he or she should be able to show you a complete wedding they shot at each beach. Hope this helps. I fyou have any other questions, please let me know. Since I live on st. Thomas I may be able to shed more insight on some of your concerns.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
