Dad will not be attending wedding

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone not having their Dad walk them down the aisle? My Father will not be attending the wedding because we do not speak anymore. Anyways. How have you dealt with this issue if your Dad is not coming? Who is walking you down the isle?

Thanks

Megan

Megan - My dad did not come to my wedding either. Actually only 7 people did, one being my younger brother. I am really close with him and he insisted that he walked me. I was tossing the idea of walking by myself or asking him. Do you have someone close to you that you could ask? Or if it doesn't bother you, you could walk by yourself?

Megan - my dad is attending but will Not be walking me down the aisle. He gets really uncomfortable in front of groups and that was the last thing I wanted to ask him, even if it is my wedding day!! I'm either going to have my sister walk with me, or suck it up and go alone - even though that idea kind of terrifies me since I'm not good in front of people either (even if it is friends!). If I could tell EVERYONE to look away until I'm at the front then I'd totally be good :)

Just do whatever you're comfortable with. If that means walking on your own or having a close friend walk with you then go with it! It works out especially well if you've got uneven numbers in your wedding party like me!

My dad passed away almost 5 years ago and to be honest the idea of walking down the aisle without him is pretty upsetting for me. I know that no matter what I do, I'm going to be thinking about how I wish he was there with me sad.gif

For myself, I haven't decided yet whether to walk down with my mom or to go it alone, but I think either will be fine. Time's are changing, and especially with a destination wedding anything goes! Also, as another poster mentioned, if you have a brother or uncle or someone like that who you would like to walk you down the aisle that would be fine too.

Thank you girls. Sorry that you are all in the same situation that I am or even worse that your father has passed away.

I am going to have my grandfather walk me down the aisle I was really debating on him or my Mom. They have both played such huge roles in my life. I do feel in a way guilty that I did not invite my father to the wedding. But we are not on good terms at all. And my Mother and him do not get a long what so ever. I just want it to be comfortable for everyone.

Thanks again ladies for all your kind words.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
