Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I am getting married at 4pm... (October 24th) - I was told that was a good time. Anyone else?

Also- what are you ladies doing about your hair and makeup? I know there are places down there that do it... and if I remember correctly in one of the packages it is included. Have any of you found people to do it down there? Or for anyone that has already gotten married- who did you use? (this is such a hard decision as you cannot really do a trial ahead of time)

Thanks a million :)

This is actually a really big decision for me since I'm absolutely paranoid about my hair and make up...My mom is flying in her hair stylist to do the bridal party's hair and manicures (this was entirely her idea and I totally acted like it was completely unnecessary while secretly doing a happy dance). Most of the reviews say that they're not bad but to bring lots of pictures. I've also seen some ladies go do a trial with thier hairdresser and have pictures of each step taken so they have a clear picture of how to do the style you want.

Then there's makeup - from other reviews I've read the makeup used at most of these spas (and this isn't specifically for a dreams resort - but just from various reviews I've read) has been described as "wet n wild" quality. I believe there was a girl on the Azul Sensatori thread who found a MAC makeup artist in Cancun but then you get that pesky "outside vendor fee" which might be $500.

So I'm trying to sweet talk this woman who works at the Trish McEvoy counter here in Houston to fly to Mexico for my wedding...And if any brides are going to be there around the same time and want to share the services and part of the costs maybe we can fit it in the budget.

Okay I just typed this up and I realized that I sound like a total diva - flying in my own people for hair and make up blush2.gif I swear I'm not - I'm just really terrible at doing my own makeup...but my mom is a total diva and momzilla hahaha

Hahaha- not I don't think you sound like a DIVA... I mean someone could totally screw up hair and makeup... I am paranoid about it, too.. Maybe that means I am a diva, too :) ha! Anyhow- I know that a few of you mentioned "outside vendor fees" = what do you mean by this? I know that Ana told me that I could bring my own photographer, but she didn't mention anything about a fee. Also- my brother is marrying us- and she didn't mention a fee on that either? So- if we get our makeup and hair done "outside" of the hotel- we have to pay a fee??

I do not think there would be a fee for someone that is actually staying at the resort as a guest to do your makeup. We are bring our own photographer and there is no fee for that.

You do not sound like a diva. I actually was talking to a girl that I always buy makeup from at the clinquie counter and I was trying to get her to go to the trip to do my makeup. lol. But with flying our own photographer we just do not have that in the budget and my FI would think I was crazy.

What I am going to do is for my bridal photos coming up. I am getting my make up professional done and hair. I am going to take a ton of pics and have them with me when I am at the resort. And hope and pray it turns out good. I am pretty nervous about it too.

:) Do you know who or where you are getting your hair and makeup done there?

I think I might go with them, unless the other place (paradise) can use the puerto morelos dock. This one seems very reasonable! Have you found any cheaper transportation to Cancun? I am looking into this today because Jose quoted me at $350 round trip for everyone. He also said we could snorkel, I just think I am going to keep it at the 3 hour sunset cruise.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
