DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

We had the DJ do it, but he was terrible. Played the wrong music and none of the stuff that I had on the list that I gave him. I recommend renting the sound system from Dreams, making your own play list, and asking one of your guests to be in charge of the music for the ceremony.

Did you have music played for the ceremony (processional, recessional) and if so did you hire a DJ to play it or use your own sound system (ipod, etc)? We're getting married on the beach & it costs $100 to hire their DJ for the ceremony. Our ceremony is probably going to be less than 1/2 hour long so I really don't think it's worth the extra cost, but I'm worried that bringing our own ipod & speakers may not be loud enough for either the guests or me to hear (like knowing when to walk down the aisle).

Did any of you run into this? If you brought your own system was it loud enough? And who manned the ipod? How did you know when to start walking down the aisle? Just wondering if it's too much of a pain to coordinate and whether I should just suck it up & pay the 100 bucks.

Thanks chicas!

i think our set up might have been part of the package. we didn't care what we walked down to, but gave gaby a cd of 'tie the knot' by digital underground for when we walked back out. they just set up their own speakers. it was plenty loud enough. there was actually feedback during the ceremony and that was SOOO loud.

Thanks Lauren! Yeah, it seems Dreams has been adding extra costs for people lately (like $100 to add a few chairs during the cocktail hour, seriously?!?) I thought it'd be included since we're renting their DJ anyway, but Rebeca said it's $100 for the dj to do your ceremony music. From what Autumn experienced it sounds like it's really not worth it if he's gonna mess it up anyway!

I recently found out that due to the lack of space we will no longer be able to have a buffet....I am having a hard time deciding which menu items we should have for both the cocktail hour and for the dinner....

Is there any dishes or appetizers your guests were raving about....or on the flip side recommend not getting?

Thanks so much

Okay guys, I talked to Rebeca from Dreams PV today and got the skinny on the new outside vendor policies. What Rebeca told me is that the new vendor fees only apply if you are hiring outside a la carte BUT if you have an outside wedding coordinator and/or designer (i.e. us! wink.gif, and we bring, as part of our service, an outside vendor (i.e. furniture, cake, DJ, photographer, etc.) you won't be charged an outside vendor fee.

I'm not swearing this will be like this forever. And I definitely think you should make sure you get anything and everything in writing, but this is what the new policy means today wink.gif. Any questions, just let me know!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
