Yeah the pool deck is basically between the outer edge of the infinity pool and the beach. As much as I'm not super happy (yet) about the ceremony locations at DRC, I am SUPER happy with the reception locations!

With the pool deck, I love that the infinity pool is behind you, and actually provides a bit of a wall for privacy. And yes, I agree, looks beautiful lit up at night!!! I also love that you are kind of on the beach, but not actually ON the beach. So no need to rent a dance floor. And, unlike being on the sand, people can wear proper shoes if they like, lol.

All in all, I think that the pool deck will provide a spacious and private location for my reception and I'm pretty excited to eat and drink and dance the night away there. smile29.gif

Seriously!! So slow - one of the Mods said it was because the forum needs and/or is getting an update.

Do any of you guys know a guesstimate of how many people each table sits for the reception?

On the topic of chairs...has anyone gotten a quote for Chiavari chairs? I'm imaging something outrageous but I really really really want gold chairs for the ceremony and reception...

Also - has anyone gotten a quote for lounge furniture? or pictures of a lounge set up?

Boo,
So are you having cocktail tables and regular dinner tables at your reception? What is your table setup going to look like? I think we are going to have about 4 or 5 round tables and then a sweatheart table (if they have that option). But cocktail table are interesting and wonder if we should throw a couple of those in for after dinner (??)

Is anyone going to have lounge furniture?

Oh, is anyone going to get the light up dance floor? I was thinking of getting it just to add some extra lighting to the area, since it is kind of dark, and thought it would look pretty. I know it is not necessary since we are already on the deck, but was looking at it as more of a decoration and for "special affects". I think some of my guests may enjoy that. I'm also trying to decide if the cold fireworks are worth it. Do they only go off one time, or does the DJ set them off periodically? I guess that is a question for the DJ. I think we are going with DJ Mannia. They got such good reviews on this forum!

Lily I am getting chiavary chairs for USD 6 per, that includes a cushion, they have white and gold wooden chiavary chairs - see a couple posts back for the name of the vendor, Gabi is really good (atleast in responding, tell her Kate from Nov 19, referred you for USD 6)

I have a couple quotes for lounge furniture, its expensive, Gabi will be able to get you some quotes, she has same day turnaround for her emails, its crazy

SDBeach Girl, we are only having the tall tables for our cocktail hour, then the regular round tables for dinner

I would have loved to do lounge furniture for our cocktail hour, I dunno if people will be able to just stand around for 1.5 hour cocktail time, especially as we will have grandparents and little kids... but its just too much for our budget

SDBeachgirl, we went with the deck as well to avoid having to rent the dance floor, but all the pictures that I have seen of it it looks great - note, some of the dance floor pictures I have seen also have had a bucket of old navy flip flops by it, saying dancing shoes, ie. I think they may restrict the footwear that is worn on some of them...

We considered doing just the ipod for our reception although we are expecting 50+ but the one thing that is leaning me towards still having a DJ is the cold fireworks, I think that would look very neat, have any of you girls heard of being able to hire just the cold fireworks by themselves?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
