Is it me or should they have specific wedding menus? For instance does anyone know if you you do the sky wedding do you pick your hor dourves from the "white glove" menu? Also there is one menu where a dinner is $20 and then a comparable entree on a different menu that is almost $50.

If someone could let me know their budget breakdowns that would be awesome. Also if the hotel was willing to negotiate on prices too...

Thanks!!!
Hello!

As far as I know, the Sky Deck doesn't come with hor'derves... unless it's been so long since I chose that option, I don't even know what it comes with anymore, LOL!

I didn't have too much trouble with the menu, I chose the Surf and Turf, steak and lobster with the trio ceviche appetizer with chocolate and raspberries dessert and it's $28 per person.

My budget breakdown is so huge and scary, I think showing it to you would do more harm than good shots.gif

Good luck on your site visit! My experience with them is that negotiations are not done at all. I'm in sales too so I've tried to haggle them down like my dad always taught me and they don't budge.

Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. I think I just kind of panicked/worried that what if I travel there and hate it...then started reading some bad reviews and got freaked.

I am using destinationweddings.com and she said you can have your cocktail hour up there after your reception. Is that what you are doing? Do you just select off a separate menu for cocktail hour?

I'm using DW.com as well... I've made it a rule to only listen to what my Karisma offsite coordinator tells me. I don't ask my TA any details regarding the wedding.

That's the first I've heard of that... last I heard, we couldn't have the cocktail reception up there. I can ask my coordinator... I've been planning my wedding now for almost 2 years so things could have changed or I'm just loosing my mind wink.gif

My cocktail reception will be on the beach on the wooden palapas. When I was given options of cocktail reception areas, Sky Deck wasn't listed but who knows it could be an option now.

I'm doing the donkey cocktail hour which is no longer offered. It's 5 mexican hor'derves, open bar and Filemon the donkey which you can take pictures with, $10 per person.

AmyF - I swear, we are having the same wedding - just 22 days apart and mine down the street from you!!! I chose the same meal but added a Cesear Salad - I really wanted a salad course b/c my FMIL does not eat fish & other ppl might not too so I thought it would be nice to have the salad. And someone said the cesear salad was invented in Mexico, so its a nice Mexican thing to do! I think it was $3 or $4 more per person. AND of course the donkey cocktail hour though I totally forget what we ordered from the apps menu.

Ginger - Yes the meals can seem weird - I recommend not using the a la carte options and take a set menu. You can change things as you want and get the price quoted for the changes - its much cheaper that way. How many ppl are you inviting? That matters on price - even for the ceremony they only include 12 chairs - each additional is $9 freaking dollars!!!

$9 extra per chair! o please! hhahaha...Is it rude to tell my guest standing room only? (JK!!!!) Amy thanks for the tip about the menu though...I am def going to go that route.

Wait no more donkey? My fiance was really looking forward to that. And KittenHeart how is your experience with DW? I like my TA but I am beginning to worry that she doesn't know as much as she lets on and I worry that she may have ulterior motives for being so gung ho for AS.

By the way, that's $9 a chair for an uncovered chair. Covered is $12 each. And a bow is an extra $4 each.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
