Hello,

My name is Jill, I am getting married in October or November of next year, we haven't picked a firm date yet and we are having a destination wedding, but have not decided on the location yet either, that's why I'm here, to get some advice and hear what others have done.

I think so. Of course I'm about 18 months away from my wedding so I could always change my mind. But I believe we have picked the Occidental Grand Xcaret for the week of the wedding and the wedding reception and then the El Dorado Resort and Spa for the honeymoon week.

I picked the Occidental for a few reasons. 1. Its beautiful 2. It has extremely good prices and I wanted pick a resort that everyone on my guest list could afford to go to. 3. Ive read really good reviews on it. The down side to this resort is that it seems like other resorts might have a better plan money wise as far as the actual wedding goes. At the Occidental you have to reserve 10 junior club sweet rooms to get the free wedding. The junior club rooms are pretty expensive. But at the end of the day I think Id rather have to pay a few more dollars here and there for the actual wedding then booking a place that my guests couldn't afford to get to. There are other resorts in this price range to check out but I personally think this is the prettiest.

Here is the link to the hotels website.

P.S. If money was not an issue and we did not possibly have children coming then the El Dorado would probably be our next choice.

Thank you everyone for the welcome!

Jackie, the Occidental looks beautiful, I may have to look into that further. I am thinking the same thing, I don't want this to be outrageously expensive for my guests, and my fiancee is no help, he says just pick the place where I'm going to be happy and don't worry about everyone else. We have children coming as well and that's why I'm not looking at the El Dorado, because I have heard from so many people that it's wonderful.

Jillian,
I know isnt it a buetiful looking resort. Something about it just catches my eye more than the other resorts in the same price range.

I'm trying to dig up info on the Occidental and I will post whatever I can. We are also seriously entertaining the idea of doing a site visit in Sept/Oct 2007 where I hope to get tons of information first hand.

I am going to try and e-mail the hotel and maybe give them a call also. Hopefully I can get them to reply.

Jackie, for a 4-star it is very reasonably priced...they are actually having a sale for trips booked this year for 2007.

out of boston for 5 nights in sept. 2007 it is about $880 per person.
for 7 nights it is $1090...

this includes airfare and taxes (but rates based on availibilty and can cahnge at any time).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
