This thread is a great read for any curvy lady. The love and support is amazing especially when you're closest girl is miles and miles away. It's another place to get the support we all need and want.

You ladies are fantastic, look fantastic and almost make me ready to go dress shopping (but I think I'll still wait a few months.)

xoxo Nichole

Hi- what a great thread.... I can totally relate with so many of you! I am pretty tall and a curvy size 10/12 and like many I am trying to tone up and lose some weight before the big day, but because of my muscle/bone structure-I will never be "stick" thin or come even close.

I was curious if anyone found a great dress yet? If so what style/designer worked well for you?

I just started dress shopping last weekend. I know I have to lose weight, but I figured it would be fun to look around and try some on. What a frustrating experience! Dresses run sooooo small!

Most of the stores I went to only carry up to size 12/14 to try on so it would fit below, but once it hit the bust/mid back area there was no way it would come close to zipping up!

Holy cow I just read all 71 pages of this thread..took me a few hours but I'm now up to date haha. I'll have to admit, being a + size girl pisses me off when ALL my friends are size 10 or under.. Also, being from Canada, we don't have that many stores to shop in. I can usually get tops at normal stores but pants.. forget about it! I have recently discovered NY&Co and god bless them because they have saved me in dress pants (work in a high school and can't wear jeans..)

Not engaged yet but we're checking out rings and then the rest is up to him.. :)

Found a GREAT dress on style fx but they won't ship to Canada and I don't want to sign up for that fake US address because the shipping charges are CRAZY. So.. I dunno what to do. Having lots of trouble to find summer dresses.

We're heading to the Royal in Playa del Carmen at the end of Feb. Hoping to lose 8-10 pounds and have officially started last week to be careful with food and working out.

Might also try the rapid start dr. phil diet.. I know his show can be corny sometimes but have had a lot of success with this 2-week rapid start plan so will surely do it again before the trip.

I'm 28 and have been big all my life. I absolutely HATE my legs because they are huge and even my calves are big so there's no hiding anything. Dreading having to go dress shopping when I do get engaged! At least I'll have a year or more to slim down but would rather do it for myself and not a wedding.

So nice to meet you all and hear your stories.. will be keeping this thread accessible in the future. :)

WoW~ What a great Idea for a Thread! I'm Kym and I am plus sized (living in Canada) and shopping here isn't the greatest for plus size girls. LUCKILY I have traveled to the states many times in the past few years and have added considerable amounts of clothing to my wardrobe from Torrid & Lane Bryant. Plus I have a credit card/shopping addiction haha and like to purchase the odd thing from both stores since they both ship to Canada (WOOT!). I just purchased my wedding dress yesterday actually - it was my size and fit perfectly

+ they had just got it in the day before so I was able to take it with me since no-one else had tried it on.. but it had kind of been a struggle to find a dress up to this point. We got engaged back in May 2008 and I started dress shopping in August 2009 - I've probably been dress shopping only a handful of times up until yesterday but I just found the salespeople weren't very helpful... I got the sense that it was because I was a bigger girl and selection isn't as great as it is if your a size 2-6 haha. Luckily yesterday I was set up with a wonderful consultant and she kept pulling dress after dress for me plus the store had a HUGE selection. So I'm lucky that I found the ONE and glad that dress shopping is over with :)

Anyways I look forward to meeting you all - sorry for my novel of an intro!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
